Sunday, April 8th - Delaware County Field & Stream
Delaware County Field & Stream Original Field Target Course Return Match
Sunday, April 8, 2018, Mike and Doug will be rotating the A course with the original standing course with the B course, or Hawk Valley AAFTA course. So in retrospect there will be an AAFTA Match every other month. The reconstructed standing course is no joke. Match director and architect Doug Brustie really made the course into a Picasso. We would like to see our offhand class shooters and or pistol shooters. This match in non-official. You can shoot any class. Registration will be at the main air rifle club house. Sight in will be at lanes six and seven and will start sight in at 8 AM. The match will start at 9:25 AM.
Our address is 713 Creek Rd., Middletownship, PA. Match directors info is Doug B. @ 267-471-2380 and Mike H. @ 484-557-0120. Please let one of us know if you will be attending.
Also, in the event of rain or snow, we will reschedule the match for next Sunday the 15th.
Guys, I've been asking for several months now where is your schedule.
I want to attend your events, but with only 3 days notice this becomes impossible.
You haven't given your event list to Greg @ BCSA, you don't seem to have a website, it's all very frustrating. And, yes, I'm frustrated because I've asked this before without any response.
Sorry guys this is my fault. First my name is Doug Bruestle and I have taken over the job of bringing D.C.F.S. old field target course back to life. Seems it was getting to much for the older guys to maintain and I was asked if I would take it on.
I have met a lot of you at Mike's aafta shoots and Falls township's last field target shoot last fall. I shoot with my son Max and we are in this for fun. That said I have put over 100 hours into the course and I have bought over 30 new targets for the course. All the clubs old targets have been disassembled stripped repaired, painted and all new hardware installed. The biggest complaint I heard from people about why they no longer shot the course was lack of field targets. People didn't want to shoot all the swingers, spinners, gongs, and bells that had made their way onto the course. Now there's 60 field targets out there.
Also want to clear something else up. This is not an offhand and pistol course as it was before. I set this up as a Hunter Field Target course. Maximum distance is 45 yards. There are 6 new lanes cut into the woods just past the Airgun shed. You won't have to walk as far as you used to now as lane 1 is only 50 yards down the path. Thought this might help some of the older shooters that didn't like the long walk out and back to the old course. There is 15 lanes total, and there are 4 target per lane for a total of 60. There is a target on each of the 15 lanes that is just for offhand and pistol. Lane 14 will be offhand for all shooters. About 25% of the shots will be 33 yards+ The average Troyer for the course is about 25-27 .
This is the club's course but we will be holding a shoot every other month for those that are interested. The late notice is my fault not Mikes. I wasn't sure if I could get it finished with all the crappy weather we've had. So as this weekend is supposed to be more of that, I don't think Sunday will work out. If you are a club member, you can go out there and shoot if you would like but I will hold the first shoot on Sunday April 22. Hopefully that will work for most people that would like to attend. Next Sunday is Falls Township's first shoot (NRA silhouette) and my son and I hope to make all their air gun shoots this year.
Hope as many guys that can will come out and try the course on the 22nd and let me know what you like and don't like. I don't offend easily and by no means think I got it perfect first time around. There is still plenty to do to make it as I think it should be, and I will continue to get things finished in the next few weeks.
Sorry for the long post,
Thanks for the post, really informative.
I applaud your idea of having a HFT style course, but the obvious question then is: ¿Will the shoots be held under UKHFT rules?
Regardless, I have penciled in the date and hope to see you on the 22nd.
Keep well and shoot straight!
