This is the first shoot on this course and what a perfect day we had! 17 guys showed up to give the course a try. This was a 60 target shoot. The targets range from lots of brand new Gamo, Air Venturi, and Remington targets to Knock Downs and Rhinos that have been full restored. The lanes are laid out in the woods and field on the backside of the clubs shotgun ranges. 15 lanes with 4 targets in each. Longest shots are around 45 yards and shortest is 10. We had competitors in the following classes: Open PCP,Open Piston,HFT PCP,HFT Piston,WFTF Piston,HFT Pistol, and Offhand.

Results:

1st in Open PCP........Brian Van Liew.......54

2nd............................Mike Harris.............52

1st in Open Piston.....Larry Bowne............37

2nd............................Hector Medina.........28

1st in HFT PCP..........Tom Ryan.................51

2nd............................Doug Bruestle...........37

3rd.............................Don Tillman..............23

4th.............................Bob Vee.....................14 DNF

5th.............................Jack Jouney..............12 DNF

1st in HFT Piston......Jim Wilcox.................25

1st in WFTF PCP.......Rich Basset................48

1st in HFT Pistol.......Greg Evans..................41

2nd............................Fred Mannis................34

1st in Offhand...........Stan Lipinski................29

2nd............................Bob D-Amico...............17

3rd.............................Dale Benson.................11

4th..............................Al Otter........................DNF

Final notes: the course was laid out with an average troyer rating of 27 and for the guys that came out and wanted to shoot the whole match offhand it was a very tough course. As this was the first shoot on this course I got some great feedback from everyone and I'm looking forward to the next match. I'd like to thank everyone one more time that came out to shoot.

Thanks for the tremendous efforts at DCF&S.  The new course(s)...both yours and Mike’s make it a great place to come to shoot matches!  The extra work to place 4 targets on a lane (1 shot per) is a welcome challenge.   Some of us are only accustomed to double shots on each target and the “2nd chance” often yields a hit based on feedback of the first shot.  One shot per emphasizes ranging and wind reading precision along with basics.  This was FUN!! The new course definitely tested the offhand shooters and I admit the longer shots stretched me for pistol.  I really encourage folks to venture into SE PA for FT at DCF&S and FTRPA.  There will be fun and challenge.  You will not be disappointed.

Thanks again,

Craig E

@hector-j-medina-g

Thanks for the report Hector! I appeciate ALL the feedback I got and am still getting from everyone that attended. This is the only way to make things even better. Sorry to hear about the gun issues. Makes for a long day. Glad you figured it out. Would be interesting to see what you can do with the gun now that it is sorted. One of the biggest issues with our great sport is the start up costs. Quality guns at a reasonable price is the best way to get more people involved. Thanks again for coming out.

Doug B.
