Oops. My bad. Sight in starts @8:00am down on the course. Park up top and walk down to the range for sight in. Mike didn't say what time the match will start but I would say about 9:15....that's the normal match start time.

The “creek road” address does not work in my GPS for Middletown township mentioned as the club address. I have driven 425 miles today and am laid up at the Quality Inn in Media, Pa. I have called Mike at the number listed in the match announcement and seem to get a household appliance business. Any help with directions to this match will be greatly appreciated.  Mobile # 207-653-9019.  😝

12 competitors showed up to shoot for the Pa. State title on Sunday September 2nd. We got lucky with the weather in that the forcast for rain showers was completely wrong. The forecast along with the Holiday weekend and the fact that the AAFTA course at Delaware County Field and Stream has it's own challenges built right in by Mother Nature, kept the entries to about half of what has been the norm in the past. Moving this important State Shoot to a more "climate friendly" time of year is something that needs to be considered for next year. The morning started out cool but very humid and by noon got uncomfortably warm and humid and the one thing missing for the day was wind. This is normally an aspect of the AAFTA course that comes into play as the course is laid out on a tall ridge and the wind blows up-down-and across the face of the hill where most of the targets are located adding to the fun and was one of the reasons Mike set the course on this spot. Today....not even a hint of a breeze.

Mike Harris had a challenging course laid out for everyone over 12 lanes-60 shots-on the Hawk Valley AAFTA (lower) course. Steep uphill and steep downhill  shots were lying in deep woods and the shadows and light through the trees that change on a minute to minute bases add one more challenge in accurate ranging. No shortage of long shots helped elevate the average TROYER rating to about 38. Mikes plan was to have this be a prep for the up coming Nationals and Pyramyd competitions this fall. 12 forced position shots kept the scores for most lower than normal with all but one competitor hitting less than 50% on 6 standing and 6 kneeling shots out to 40 yards. At the end of the day all the competitors agreed that the course Mike set up was a fun and challenging time and everything a State Championship course should be. Alittle bit of everything. Thanks Mike for all the work you did in preparing the course and organizing another great day of shooting.  Now the results.......

Thanks everyone that came out to shoot and once again thank you to Mike Harris and his girl friend Mala Rajkumar for organizing a great day.

Pictures to follow if I can figure it out................

Mike congrats on putting on a great state championship. I wish I could have attended but Doug's report kept me filled in. Congrats to Brian for an excellent score on what was described as a challenging course. New rifle Brian?

I see that Bill Day made it to the match and finished with an excellent score also.

See you all at the end of the month at The Pyramyd Air Cup.

Mike, I enjoyed shooting your course very much. The setup was challenging as a State Championship should be. You club has a lot of potential for a BIG FT Event!  Next time I shoot your course I will have two bipods or be lower to the ground.  The uneven shooting positions were very difficult for me thus the need for a shorter bipod. I'm in hopes your course setup identified some problems with my scope setup. I'm changing back to my Sightron III with the lighted reticle because I had trouble finding my mildots on a few of the targets.  Sorry I had to leave so quickly. I had unexpected out of state company arrive early Sunday that were leaving  Monday morning so I had to get home. See you at the Pyramyd Cup, Bill

P.S Enjoyed shooting with Jim Wilcox and Tom Ryan. I Consider Tom the PA Hunter PCP Champ!
