I've already signed up and chomping at the bit to shoot again.

I do want to remind everyone that once again we'll be going for lunch after the match. We had a great time last month and hoping to make the after match meal a tradition. So come shoot and make plans to join us afterwards for more fun and some good natured socializing. Restaurant and directions TBA.

Hope to see you there.

Central Carolina Gun Club Match Report – 2018 May 12
Location: 3668 Fleming Graham Rd., Burlington, NC
Temperature: 76-90 °F
Wind: Primarily out of the West and calm with intermittent gusts to 10+ MPH
Number of Targets: 30 (60 points maximum)
Average Distance: 29.7 yards (7 targets over 40 yards)
Average Kill Zone: 1.12”
Course Difficulty: 29.7T, with wind ~32T

Results:

May 12 results table

Remarks:

Summer has definitely arrived.  Interestingly, the temperature in Burlington was higher than in most of Florida on May 12.  Sunny conditions with generally light winds made for a great day.

There were a total of ten shooters, including one “new” shooter, none other than our club Treasurer David Devine.  Phil “dead-eye” Hepler set up the dope card and side wheel for the new club loaner rifle (Marauder, complete with regulator and tuned by Will Piatt).  Phil helped David get familiar with the loaner gun during the sight in period.  Apparently, David is a good FT student and the loaner gun shoots as advertised.

Phil finished first in Hunter with a 50, followed by a score of 42 by Mike Edwards.  This is an impressive showing as Mike has only shot a few matches.  Miguel Sanchez finished third with a 40.  The Morrisons, Jody and Pam shot scores of 39 and 27, respectively.  Ed Canoles was the sole Hunter Piston shooter and posted a score of 30.  I think everyone that attended the match agreed that the performance of the day was the score of 39 posted by David Devine.  Again, this was his first FT match, and he was using a borrowed gun.

Raymond Hawkins was the sole Open shooter and shot a 39.  Raymond had problems with his stock during the standing stage, but he quickly repaired it and got back in the game.  Good job Raymond.  Gerald Long was the high score in WFTF with a 51, and Curt Hathaway finished with a 48.

CCGC would like to thank everyone that made it out.   The next match is scheduled for June 23rd.  To beat the heat, the sight in range will open at 8:00 and start the match will start at 9:00.  Watch the YF for updates and other NC match announcements.

Thank you Gerald for hosting another well run match.

I had a great time on the course followed by another good lunch. Getting to see everyone at the match is always good but just nothing like the time spent with a group relaxing and winding down after the match.

Gerald, it was also a real pleasure getting to finally shoot with you. I wanted to congratulate you on high score and the others for shooting great scores. David shooting a 30/60 his first time out with a barrowed gun is indeed impressive. No mater how great the gun it shows he's got plenty of skills as a marksman and will do well in FT.

The M&M's......... Mike, Miguel and the Morrison's (all new shooter) are raising the bar and getting stronger each time out. All great friends and always willing to help each other.

Great seeing everyone and already looking for to the next time,

Raymond Hawkins

Sorry to have missed it too. Needed to complete targets orders so I can concentrate on my guns and me.   Nice to see your gun club member try our Daisy Red Rider sport. Hope he continues...
