Beautiful. How much time would an amateur have to invest from blank to finished like that? I have a gun coming that if it turns out accuracy wise I might want to make something out of a blank... I do have access to lots of tools and equipment.

if youve never cut and shaped a stock before, dont use a good blank for your "first" one.
cut a stock shape from a clean 2x6 or 2x8 and cut, inlet and shape that. you'll learn a lot about the process and where its gonna be problematic for you. Then when you work the good blank, you'll have a much much better idea of how to proceed.
