Since most of the desiccant cylinders and canisters that I saw for gun safes cost an arm and a leg, and since I had extra desiccant beads left over from my Altaros booster pump desiccator project, I found a pretty inexpensive and effective container for them to use in my gun safe. Both Amazon and eBay and several other places sell these mesh hop spider's for anywhere from $9-25 and they hold around a pint or more of desiccant beads.
Since we're in the $25 range, how is this better than a Crown Royal bag? 🤣 🤣 🤣
Mine are in nice socks which have lost their mates 😵 Widows, sexy widows...

Crown Royal
Do you have to drink that salmon piss to get to the bag?
I also use a an old spare mesh beer hop container; cover it with a non scratch old sock too. Works well.
Whatever works I suppose, may need to add some charcoal for that sock though! 🤢

Florida is the armpit of the Nation. Dank. Nothing heals black socks like a soak in quat-san type solution.
My desiccant beads get recharged (de-hydrated) in the toaster oven a few times a year.
Carbon would actually be counterproductive, by adsorbing some of the camphor vapor I'm using as VOC corrosion inhibitor.
Enough to matter? Probably not, until you camphor-bomb the toaster oven during re-gen.
