Made the spider to fit my SB years ago to fit the left side of the lathe head to do barrel work. Shorted the bolts and put brass tips on them.  Turned out good and was pretty quick.. Chris

Chris I need  to make one  for the barrel work also  , somehow I never get around to  making  it getting busy with everything else.  looks  great,  really nice .

the milled  flats for the  nut  was a nice  touch I dont have a mill so mine will be without the nice flats

what size  bolts  are  they

I don't remember the bolt size.  Maybe 7/16? or metric....Its just what ever I had laying around with four nuts...lol   I think Allen set screws would have word out good too.   I don't think the lock nut is really necessary.

After seeing  your post  I bought a  Tap & drill bit for 5/16  and some 5/16 bolts

Dead blow hammer I'll see if  I can borrow one from a machine shop I  had dealt with  before , super nice guy. years ago let me use his lathe when I didn't even know  him

Made mine years ago using brass bolts. The brass helps keep vibration (known as harmonics) down. really nice tips there Chris
