It's finally here, the 2021 Field Target season for the Sacramento Valley Airgun Club and I think we are all ready for some return to normalcy. This should be an exciting year for us as the AATFA National Championship in October and a Western States Grand Prix in August will be held in Morro Bay. The SVFTC will be the sponsoring club for the Western States GP and we will assist with the running of the National Championship.
Come on out and join us for our first match of 2021. We will set up a challenging but fun course to give you a chance to test your skills in shooting Field Target. In case of heavy rain the match will be canceled, watch for any last minute announcements on the GTA or Airgun Nation field target forums.
Note on Covid-19 Protocols: Hopefully by our first match all of our at risk seniors (everyone but Cameron:) will have received at least one vaccination by then. We are going to leave the prevention measures up to the individual attendees as we believe you are smart enough to do what is in your best interest. Masks and social distancing will be at your discretion. If someone is wearing a mask please respect their decision and follow social distancing guidelines. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant spray will be available.
We will be providing soft drinks, water and a light lunch for those who want to partake. Get in some practice time in after the match!

Likely 2021's first warm and sunny saturday and folks were out doing what they do in spring !!
BUT WAIT !! stop all that and make it out to IONE for some Field target shooting. Well all said 15 like minded shooters did just that showing up and helping get the 58 shot 14 lane course set up. With 3 bell targets sitting on lane 13 we picked up 2 extra shots.
Weather was wonderful and personally was down to a T-shirt by 8:45 am. By noon we were likely edging on 70* or so.
Our target set up was pretty typical for this range where we are sitting in a large 100 yard deep shooting bay with @20 foot tall berms on 3 sides.
This when the wind in blowing makes for some interesting and often frustrating wing swirl and tumble effects .... and when is in not blowing in IONE ?
The morning set up and practice wind was not really being felt tho was present being noticed by some at 50+ yard distances. Easy corrected for w/o much fuss. No more than @ 30 minuets into the match the south west breeze would ebb and tide giving many fits as it would pick up for just a spell as you broke an otherwise PERFECT shot ... LOL such is this FT game we play ! All said wind likely never went above 5 mph but in the 3 sided bay winds do some weird shite !!

TODAY for the fist time in over a year we had Lunch, Drinks and some goodies to eat. Most stayed around and ate, then helped pick up the course and pack it away for next month.
The TARGETS which were painstakingly Repaired and painted by Fred B this winter were beautiful !!! and even during the shooters meeting stated to all do you best in staying inside the KZ hole to protect all the new paint ...... Well you know how grown kids are ? Not listening too well and the paint is now freckled. bad kids ... bad bad kids
In all seriousness a GREAT DAY and all seemed to take it in stride having a good time. THANK YOU to all that came out and played, help in the setup & tear down. Look forward to next month and hopefully MORE of you at next months match in Davis at the YOLO facility on "SUNDAY" April 25th.
*** FYI All the IONE shoots on the 4 SATURDAY and the YOLO shoots on the 4th SUNDAY. These alternate every month all season.
