MATCH REPORT 12/15/18
Well we had 6 hearty souls show up for a wet day of FT. When I got to TCRC, it was raining lightly and about 50 degrees. The winds were calm. Brian Van Liew came down on Friday from NJ along with Mike Harris from Philly. Paul Porch made the 2.5 hr. trip up from Watha, Mike Edwards came down from Raleigh, & Big Jim Williams made the trek from Gaston Lake. The match started about 9:30am when we caught a break in the drizzling rain. But of course that lasted until we got on the lanes. I saw something that I hadn't seen in 3 yrs of shooting at TCRC. The path flooded before Lane 1. Lane 1 & 2 were also under water. We had to shoot in front of the sticks today on those 2 lanes. Winds were typical TCRC, shifting & tricky. They weren't strong winds but they were constantly shifting without any visual indications. That combined with the angled shots really kept us guessing at wind hold offs. We had 4 in WFTF PCP, 1 in Open PCP, & 1 in Hunter PCP. About half way through the match, the rain finally stopped & the sky actually cleared a little. Temps got in the low to mid 50s for a comfortable match. Jimmy Williams took WFTF today along with match hi score with a 47. I followed in 2nd with a 45. Mike & Brian tied for 3rd with 43's. Paul being the lone Open shooter shot an impressive 45. Seems he forgot to top off his Thomas before the match. Mike was having some ranging issues with his Hawke scope. This was a long course, then factoring in wet scope lenses & dark conditions, I don't know how he ranged at 16X. Mike finished with a 28 & my hat's off to him. The Troyer for today's match was a 38.76 T.
