2021 TENNESSEE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FT MATCH
To be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the GOB airgun range located on Roz
Sumpter’s property, Roz’s Hollow, in Pulaski, Tennessee.
It is a one day match consisting of 11 lanes with 66 shots for score. Due to the number of lanes available (eleven) and wanting to keep squads at a maximum of 3 shooters per squad, we must limit the number of contestants to 33. Divisions/classes will be WFTF, OPEN and HUNTER with customary power plant restrictions.
Number of awards dependent on the number of participants.
For those who arrive a day early on Friday, September 10th the practice and sight-in area will be open from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. After which we will adjourn for a buffet meal in town.
As the members of the GOB and Invicta FT clubs discussed how to create this match, adding a spring piston element to the activities was suggested. With unanimous agreement we will have a 30 shot piston gun match on Friday mid-afternoon using 5 lanes of Saturday’s course. (Awards to be determined.)
Overall we want to go forward in presenting this match in the spirit and reminiscence of the early days of Field Target competition. We seek to provide a laid back atmosphere of fun and low stress.
Please note; this is NOT an AAFTA match in compliance with Grand-Prix rules.
There will be no meal on match day, so bring snacks.

Thank you all.
Clarification; the Friday 9/10/21 Spring gun only match is separate from the Saturday 9/11 TN State match. It is not necessary to shoot in the Friday match. Friday's scores will NOT be counted towards Saturday's State match scores.
UPDATE:The 2021 TN State Match is now named 'The Pat O'Brien Memorial Match' to be held Sept. 11, 2021 at Roz's GOB range.
As additional incentive for attending this event each competitor, upon arrival, will receive one (1) quality Field Target from the 'Fire Marshall' collection. The majority of these targets sold for well over $35.00 each when new. This will more than offset the $35. match fee. Targets will be distributed on a first come, first served pick while they last. There will also be assorted shooting related items auctioned away at some point. Try to arrive by completion of the Friday afternoon Spring Gun match in order to avoid possible disappointment.
Roz
I'll be there w/bells, whistles, and an airgun of some sort

See ya'll in the AM, probably around 9ish
The 2021 Tennessee State FT Airgun Match was contested Saturday 9/11/2021 in near perfect conditions with 25 competitors from all corners of the USA vying for this years title at the Good Ole Boys FT club in Roz's Hollow. The fantastic turnout was a fitting memorial to our friend Pat O'Brien, the Fire Marshall.
Roz opened the event with his thoughts of Pat and Pat's many contributions to our club and hobby. This was followed by a moment of silence for each of us to reflect on Pat as well as the tragedy of the attacks on our country which occurred on this date exactly 20 years ago.
The match started just past 9am and conditions really could not have been much better. Temperatures were in the upper 50's when folks arrived for sight in and rose to the low 80's by match end early in the afternoon. There was just enough wind to catch one out if you weren't paying close attention. Scores were outstanding as would be expected from this group of experienced competitors.
In the end, the Georgia Boy's ruled the roost this year with Airgunning Atlanta taking home top honors in both WFTF PCP (Rowdy Ron Brown's outstanding 60/66 was Match High Score) and WFTF Springer (Ken Hughes' impressive 53/66) categories. Ray Barnett continued his winning ways with a 55/66 to win Open PCP after several late nights preparing awards and T-Shirts for the event. Thanks Ray!! And Oscar Valent wins Hunter class with yet another high score 56/66.
With quite a number of participants travelling long distances and arriving Friday, the GOB decided to have a "Fun Match" for piston guns only Friday afternoon after everyone had time to finish their equipment check out. This abbreviated match shot about half the course and was particularly enjoyable for us PCP shooters who haven't spent much time with a springer in match conditions. These scores follow below, after the main match.
In summary, I wish I had more words to describe what an outstanding event this was but I'll just say Roz and his helpers put on a great match that was fun for all. If you missed it, I hope you can make it next year.
Don't forget the next scheduled Invicta match is in 2 weeks, September 25, 2021.

Friday's Springer Crew:
WOW1 It sounds like a great match and lots of top shooters. Roz's place has always been my favorite place to shoot.
I also had the honor to be lane partnered with Pat O'brien in the past. I'll be there next year for sure. I had plans to go this year but I am a new Grandpa and had family stuff this year.
Congratulations to all the high scoring participants. Looking forward to the Southern hospitality next year. I really miss you guys.

I sure had a good time getting to shoot with a really fun group of guys. Got to put some new faces to some names and got to see some that I haven't seen in a while.
The spring gun match was fantastic, really enjoyed that.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make it happen! Hope to do it again.
It was a great match and fitting to remember a great guy, Pat was a top-notch individual in all aspects from what I experienced and what I've heard from anyone that knew him.
You just can't have a bad time around those guys.
Shot an incredibly humbling 11/32 in the fun match, my first ever piston match and still had a great time.
When I finally did knock a target down I felt like I really did something lol.
Great times
