Sunday Oct. 14th 12 shooters showed up to compete in 5 different Classes of field target. HTF continues to be the biggest draw with 6 entries this shoot and the top 3 in PCP ending in a 3 way tie. The weather was perfect as the morning started with temps in the high 50's and very little wind and by the finish the temps had topped out in the mid 60's with no wind at all. The shoot started right on time @ 9;30am in bright sunshine and the last competitors came off the course @ 1:45 pm in over cast skies. The course was 60 shoots on 60 individual targets placed from 10 yrd. out to 52 yrd. This shoot had 2 new lanes add to our upper course and 7 of the previous shorter shots were replaced with longer shots. The new lanes are located on the opposite side of the main trail and incorporate steep downhill angles. In addition a few mid distance targets were placed farther back to add alittle more length to this course. The Troyer was kept to 27 for this course to make for a fun, relaxed day of shooting field target after the pressure of last weeks Nationals, but the new longer shots add just enough challenge to keep everyone on their toes.
Brian Van Liew in Open PCP was one pulled shot on a 28 yard target and a miss on 1 out of 4 forced position-offhand targets away from a perfect match. Close behind in Open PCP was Mike Harris with a 56/60 using a borrowed gun. In HFT PCP a 3-way tie between Craig Evans, Tom Ryan, and Doug Bruestle was broken by scores on the 4 shot offhand lane #10. Two shooters in the Open PCP Offhand class continue to perservere shooting the course standing as they do at every shoot. Old School. Jim Wilcox and Dale Benson shot the match in HFT Piston class. And Larry Bowen of Falls Township was our sole WFTF Piston class shooter this time around. Next year Larry I am going to join you at a few events with my TX200 to see how I can do in that very challenging class.
Lots of great positive feedback on the first full season of the restored "Original" (upper) course as the season starts to wind down @ D.C.F.S. with 2 more shoots left at our club for the year....Mike Harris has 1 more shoot in Nov. on the AAFTA (lower) course, and I will finish off the year with a match 1st week in Dec. on the upper course. More on Mikes shoot as soon as I get the details. Falls Township also has 1 more field target shoot in Nov. on the 3rd Sunday.
