Sept. 16th, 9:00 start. Those with extra energy and a devious mind are invited to assist in setting up the course, around 8:15 am.
We will hold the match at the USI Action Pistol Range, where it is normally held.
The 2018 World Field Target Championship is in the record books, and at the top of the Team Piston Class, Team USA took top honors.

To celebrate and commiserate with our champions, this match will consist of 1 shot per target, instead of the regular 2. We will have 9 lanes, 3 targets per lane. After completing your first 9 lanes, you'll go around the course one more time for a total of 54 possible hits. It wouldn't be a Diablo match without a few Forced positions- 18 off hand shots will proscribed.
We'll are still running an optional competition – "Predict your Score". Shooters who want to participate forecast their score before the match. The shooter who lands closest to "his/her/undeclared" score at the end of the series of matches wins a prize. Shoot off for a tie- come December. Min of 3 matches for consideration.
Weather is predicted to be sunny with highs around 79 degrees and as always, variable winds. There will be bottled water supplied, and I'll have some excuses prepared in advance, in case you run our of your own?
NOW-at NO Extra Cost! Electric lighting in the restroom!
Rifles are strictly limited to 20 fpe.
.177/.20/.22 caliber with lead pellets only.
We have PCP (Open) and Springer divisions, WFTF, Hunter and Pistol.
Hunter classes may use buckets and sticks- scope power is limited to 16X or scopes dialed back to 16X for higher power scopes.
We shoot in squads of two and three. Eye protection is required for both shooters and spectators. Cost for club members is $10.00 and guests are $15.00.
Juniors under 18 with a member are free.
I have a loaner PCP if someone wants to come out and give FT a try. Let me know via email ahead of time.
Ladies and juniors are encouraged to attend to experience what the excitement is all about.
There will be free air tank refills after the match for club members tanks with a current hydro.
All shooters must sign the 1 time USI liability waiver form located on line here prior to shooting a match at USI:
http://unitedsportsmen.com/waiver/
It is free, signed online and is a one time procedure.
After signing the waiver, all shooters are required to obtain a USI "Blue Card" available for free at the club house.
You must have your Blue card with you. Get one at the club house before the match. USI is now charging a $5.00 replacement fee. I suggest you take a picture of it and store it in your mobile device. We will be checking for Blue Cards- again, no charge, but it must be in your possession.
All FT and Air Gun Silhouette events are listed on the Diablo Rod and Gun Club calendar here:

Hope to see you there on Sunday!

Thank you everyone for making this match a special one! We had a great turnout and some devious course layouts!
Sunny, not too breezy, but breezy enough to keep everyone honest (humble?) and- don't take this the wrong way- but nobody shot a perfect score. OK, some shot the score they predicted they'd shoot, so that's pretty perfect....
We had three competitors fresh back from the World Championship and the 2017 US overall FT champion participating. The East Coast seems to garnish all the news when reporting FT- there are allot of great shooters out West!
One shot per target, three targets per lane- 9 lanes, but two laps around the course. It was fatiguing in a unique way, although I can't describe why there was mental fatigue... Maybe it's the repeating of the course- personally, I felt that if I was a little lucky hitting a target the first time, I was more apprehensive the second time round- I had already used up my luck and was left with only a slight chance of sluicing the target. The sun was shifting through the day, creating a unique view for the duplicate round, and in my circumstance, the wind shifted in Bay 1 (the long Bay) and went unnoticed by my squad, with predictable results
There 18 offhand shots, and 9 of those could be taken kneeling. Riz and Scott (and perhaps other delinquents) found a way to insure that the kneelers weren't simple. We had small holes at various distances that stretched everyone's ability to hold steady. Looking at the score cards after the match, pretty much everyone did well on those lanes.
I'm hoping to run a similar course next month, but perhaps with 4 targets per lane and only one lap- the comment line is open, callers are welcome to contribute their suggestions! I'll be sure to have more water and maybe less of those protein bars and cookies?
Here's the results and where known, the tools that contributed to everyone's success. High Score was shot by Riz M. Most missed shooter was Bob K.- it was nice of him to let Fred B. shoot, but there's nothing like a little Bob K. at a match!
