No indoor matches...

Had Tod, from Ohio, contact me asking about the indoor field target that was set up in November.

Unfortunately, this has been cancelled in its entirety due to issues coming from the arranged host of the event.

I will see if I can make arrangements for next winter with a different host as there was a lot of interest in shooting indoor field target during the winter.

Sean, Excellent Web site ...... Like the way you are trying to entice new shooters. I would love to make it out to a few of you single day shoots but it is a heck of a hike.   You might see me for at least one before the Crosman event.

Sean,

I like the new look of the web site. Very clear and easy to get around. About your schedule. I'm hoping to make the Crossman and perhaps another GP or two if things are going good. I've read and heard a great deal about the Crossman match you guys put on each year. I actually added that one to my bucket list last year. Anyway I hope to meet you and see others I met at the Nationals.

First post on the new site.

***RBGC is now requiring eye protection and that rifles/pistols are in a case when not being shot. Please limit muzzles pointing upwards (cocking piston rifle is fine). They are trying to make absolutely sure that no projectiles leave the grounds.

Fee for the match is $12

  • $10 to RBGC in the clubhouse (typically after the match)
  • $2 to Rochester Field Target at the line (at time of match)

2018 Match Schedule: 5/19, 6/16, 7-20-22 Crosman, 8/18, 9/15, 10/20

Sight-in will be available @ 7 am, rifle match starting at 9 am, pistol match starting at approximately 12 (or shortly after rifle is done)

If you need a loaner rifle/pistol or would like to be paired with someone shooting a particular type of rifle/pistol please let me know so we can make those arrangements.

FT sight-in is to the left of the clubhouse (as you face the clubhouse from the street)

The field course is next to sight-in. The woods course is at the end of the road (keep driving past sight-in and field course to the very end. There will be a path on the left.)

If the gate isn’t open, please honk or call to get my attention (585) 363-4616

Shooter's meeting to be held at approximately 8:55

60 shot rifle match -- 10 lanes, 3 targets per lane, 2 shots per target

40 shot pistol match – 10 lanes, 2 targets per lane, 2 shots per target. If you want to shoot this standing/kneeling with a rifle that is also fine.

Divisions will be WFT, HFT, and Open with a single Junior division

Sean,

Is a rifle caddy acceptable to move between lanes rather than a case?  I'm asking about this for the upcoming Crosman match.

Thanks

Jeff P

Hi Jeff,
IMHO, I think that if you drape a towel over the action part, which shooters typically do anyway to keep their scopes from changing temp, then that would be ok. If anyone questions you direct them to me.

Fields Course is planned, 4-6mph winds are forecasted, high of 84 but starting out at 66 so please dress appropriately
This weekend is also the Rochester Brooks Open House, so there may be some people staring. If you notice anyone watching please encourage them to join the fun, try a lane, etc.

The course difficulty will be a bit more than usual in preparation for next weeks Pyramyd Air Cup.

I wanted to let everyone know that our foray into the 4H Shooting program is going amazingly well. We have our first class scheduled for October 1 through November 19 to teach air rifle. And this past weekend we set up a field target course and brought rifles for anyone interested to try out field target. The response was AMAZING from kids and adults alike! And the organizer now wants to include field target as a discipline at next year's competition.

Great work Sean and Erik!!  There are so many things  that are available to young people if you can get them away from their phones and computers for a while, shooting is the one that is TABOOED by so many and if things like this are not done it will fade into history as most F/T shooters are old like we are !!  You must have new blood to make it prosper !!   My hat's off to you guys for doing this!!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Jeff Little  McMurray Pa.

9/15 Match Results and pictures

We had 3 new shooters, Ashleigh, Spencer, and their father Craig. Ashleigh and Spencer were the two that I met in Baldwinsville. Ashleigh thought field target was "the most fun she's had shooting ever" and still feels this way after her first match.

We have added a match to help prepare for the nationals. Please email Sean @ smcdanie@Rochester.rr.com if you plan to attend.

At this point we anticipate 10 people and will hold the match in the sight-in area, like Greg @ Binghamton.
$12...($10 to Rochester Brooks, $2 to Field Target Club)
7:30 sight-in
9:55 Safety Meeting
10 am Rifle Match

If you 'd like to shoot pistol on the rifle course that is ok. We will NOT be having a separate pistol match this time.
