The Maryland State Championship match will be held at DIFTA on Saturday May 29. 12 Lanes, 2 forced positions, one Offhand and one Kneeling, 36 six targets shot twice, 29.35 Troyer. Nine targets > 40 yards.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, on a 1st come basis. Send an email to mayer.mlmet@gmail.com to reserve a slot.

Strings setup at 8:30, registration and sight in range opens 9:00 am; shooters meeting 9:50; Match starts 10:00 sharp.

Due to covid and host club restrictions we are limited to 12 shooters, so if you decide not to shoot after reserving a slot, please let me know ASAP, to give others a chance.

At the sight in range because we have only six positions, shooters will have to coordinate so that only 1 person is on a lane at any time. Don't expect to have a lane to your self for the whole sight in period; be generous, and let other shooters get setup as well.

The DIFTA host IWLAWAC will be relaxing restrictions on the number of shooters just in time for the MD State Championship. We can easily accommodate 24 shooters in squads of 2 on 12 lanes. Its rare that we would get more than that, but squads of three are possible.

Mark;

Question: Is this a go ahead rain or shine?

Just looking at the weekend forecast.

Email from Mark Mayer today (5/28),

"The State Match is on. The forecast calls for showers during the match (0.01" per hour) with temps around 48-50° so dress accordingly. The wind is forecast to be around 10 mph so your skills will be challenged."

So yes it is a go.

DIFTA MD State Championship Match Report Saturday, May 29, 2021

At the last minute before the match, the rain stopped and the wind disappeared. Apart from soggy ground, dripping trees, and an overcast sky, which made a few lanes a bit dark, shooting conditions were perfect, with temps hovering between 48-50 °F.

We had a 72-shot match, with one offhand and one kneeling lane. The average difficulty of the course,  was 29.46T with four 3/8” targets, 9 targets > 40 yards, and 6 targets > 40 T including one 49.33 T, approaching the AAFTA legal limit; proving that even this is achievable, two shooters knocked it down twice, and three shooters knocked it down one time.

The highest scores of the day (65) were shot by Brian Van Liew and Keith Walters who shared first place in open PCP.  In WFTF Piston and Springer, Chris Corey and Hector Medina shot the top scores.  In Hunter Piston Scott Broom (47) barely beat Roel Jackson (46). Will there be a rematch?Frank Moscarillo (57) took the high score in Hunter PCP division, followed by Tom Strong.

Two Novice shooters, Dawn Massa* and James Bell*, put up very impressive scores for their 1st match, and we hope to see them again.

Thanks to everyone for a great match, and especially to those who travelled long distances to shoot with us.

Our next match is Saturday June 26.
