A friend is shooting Hunter PCP and is choosing to sit on the ground instead of a bucket. I am sure everything he is doing complies with the rules except for the resting position of the butt of his rifle. He is resting it on his right knee and shooting off a bipod. He is using a bum bag and the position gets him great stability but I want to make sure what I told him is legal.

Question: Can he rest the butt of the stock on his right knee while in the ground seated position?

Thanks for any guidance.

Gary, there is no restriction in the 2018 AAFTA hunter class rules that disallows his position.

You can email the Board Of Goveners on the AAFTA website to get the final word.

Thanks Paul.... Sounds logical but I will check with the BOG for their thoughts.

just fine to shoot like that -

If he decides to shoot PRONE off a bipod then the butt of the stock must off the ground and not touching it -

except for FORCED position shots ...

all the rules and pics of acceptable positions are here.

James, Thanks for the reply. I actually did refer to the manual before I asked and didn't see anything that would address that issue specifically. Glad to know all is well. I hope I can still outshoot him now that he solid in that position and is getting a new rifle soon....:)
