First match of 2022 scheduled for this Saturday.  Dust off that gear and come join us if you can.  Weather can throw some curves this time of year so check back here for updates.

Roz has been busy getting the course ready and I pitched in a little this weekend, it was a beautiful morning in the pines of the hollow.  Kudos to all the match directors and hosts like Roz for all the work they put in to support our hobby.

just checked the weather forecast. High Saturday 32, high Sunday 53..what a difference a day makes. Maybe a Sunday afternoon match would be nice.

Well.. Curve ball it is!  Due to forecast single digit wind chills and possibility of snow Saturday morning Roz is postponing the March match to the following Saturday March 19, 2022.

Match Report courtesy David Slade:

Good Old Boys first match of the season March 19th 2022

Fourteen shooters braved the change from warm to cold weather for the Good Old Boys first match of the season, Roz worked up some sweat to make it all ready, along with help from Danny Ayers.

We had two new shooters, Eddie Dills and Carl Neveau, and a return visit from Kayla, Jeff Hales daughter, after a couple of years away from shooting. Carl shot top score for Hunter class, pretty impressive for his first ever FT match, and Kayla’s score was very good, nipping at her dad’s heels!

After the match, a plaque was put up on the practice area dedicated to the memory of Pat O’Brien, and then Roz scattered Pat’s ashes on the practice area and later, on the range. Pat’s widow told Roz that Pat had really enjoyed spending the last decade of his life shooting Field Target with his friends, which is really what its all about, having fun with good people.

The temperature really dropped down the previous day, and a number of the shooters were really not dressed for the cold, resulting in cold hands, cold feet, and generally being just plain cold! I think this, along with the tricky winds, resulted in lower than normal scores for the usual suspects!

Top score was shared by both Ray Barnett, shooting Open Class, and myself, shooting World Class, lets hope all our scores improve with the weather!

Due to the snow the previous week, and the postponement of Roz’s match till the 19th means the Invicta match will be the following week, March 26th, I hope to see you there!

Such a nice gesture for Pat Obrien. Roz's property and events were always my favorite. I only had the privilege to lane partner with Pat one time. I sure miss the Southern boys.
