For my club, I have Crosman custom shop marauder for a loaner. It can be used for hunter or open class.

Good for you!

I'm one of these crusty old springer toting ft'ers.

You are too nice lol -

I would think more about the Mauser AM03

A little bit more sedate, but quite capable for FT in 0.22" with GTO pellets. Adjustable cheek piece for different shooters and good line of sights for stick shooting.

Easy to operate, no push-buttons to release the anti-beartrap, everybody can use one.

There are one or two quirks to solve in the stock and the sights, but it is a solid, gas spring, reliable and accurate gun that sells for not too much money.

A 22 for a ft loaner seems odd

Never heard anyone accuse Hector of being 'zactly "normal", Steve.

I know... I'm one to talk!

Two reasons, Steve:

1.- Pellets are easier to handle and the process of loading the pellet, balancing the sticks and re-acquiring shooting position is easier.

2.- GTO's are tin, so the 0.177" versions are too light to be shot accurately at normal for hunter power levels, the GTO's in 0.22" are 11.75 grs, which makes the 20 ft-lbs power level achievable within the stability limits of skirted pellets.

I may not be " X'actly normal", but I ain't stupid. LOL!

😉

Keep well and shoot straight!
