MATCH REPORT
AIRGUN FELD TARGET MATCH
FALLS TWSP. RIFLE & PISTOL ASSN.
JULY 18, 2021

The course at Falls is always cleaned trimmed and set up before match day so weather is always a concern for our wooded course the day of, and a day or two before the match. The evening before the match we had a ferocious electrical/thunder storm. We didn’t know what to expect when we got to the club on Sunday (match day) morning. We always try to plan for everything, get to the club early, but surprise of surprises the gate would not open. All of my emergency phone numbers were with my paperwork already at the clubhouse inside the club! Fortunately a call to Larry just before he left home got me the phone number I needed and the club President was able to open the gate remotely. Turns out the card reader was KAPUT! Crisis averted, drama over and on to the airgun range where there were no trees down and no damage. It rained right before match time but it stopped and turned into a nice day of shooting.

The actual course was set up out beyond the archery clubhouse and was one of our least difficult ones. Average target distance was 29.1 yards with a Troyer of 28.2. There were not a lot of long distance targets but kill zones were small. Even though the course was fairly easy the scores did not reflect that. Brian Van Liew was the top shooter with a score of 55/60. We don’t give a top score award but Brian did win his Division and Jay Hannon just edged out Hector Medina by one point to win the WFTF piston class.

We were fortunate for the second match in a row to have two new shooters, John from Pennsylvania and Antoni from Virginia both of which did quite well for their first FT match. It is always a great pleasure to have new shooters at our matches and to be able to introduce them to our great sport.

It takes a substantial amount of work to put on our matches at Falls. It is not a one man operation. Larry did his usual good job with the course design and target selection and thanks to all the guys (you know who you are) who cleared/cleaned the course, set bases, targets, and cleaned up on match day. Thanks also to FTRPA who supports our activity and the shooting sports in general and also to the archers who we share the course with.

Respectfully submitted,
Rick Bassett, FTRPA

@ rich177

It's always a pleasure to return to FTRPA and meet the friends, old AND new! Thankss again!

@mattjp

Hello Matt!

Long time no hear from you.

Glad you liked the report. IF there wasn't a rule about electronic scopes, it would be fairly easy to make videos out of the shoot's recordings, LOL!

BUT, we all know how the WFTF leadership defends their interests.

ANYWAY,

Hope you and yours are well. I assume the girls are all grown up into little ladies. Daniel and Sofia still enjoy the "blanky" you gave us 5 years ago.  😉

I've been having a ball with the DIANA 430L.

How''s your TX200 doing?

Leo is doing well with his LGU (apart from a broken spring here and there), and Nathan is having some settling in-difficulties with his new stock, but they are shooting well.

The ramp up to Italy has begun, hope you can make it.

Keep well, healthy and sane!
