The next DIFTA match will be on Saturday November 2 at the IWLAWAC chapter in Damascus Maryland. As usual, we gather around 8-8:30 to finish setting up the course and, once all the strings are in place, the range will open for practice. Registration will start around 9:00 and will end at 9:50 when we will have the mandatory shooters' meeting. This match will be a 60-shot match with 10 lanes, each three targets shot twice, with a few forced positions. The difficulty will be around 29T with a mix of easy and challenging targets for everyone. Weather and interest permitting, after the match we will fire our grill and have a potluck BBQ.

On chilly Saturday morning, nine shooters enjoyed a nearly perfect fall day for some fun at the range. At the start we were in the high 20s, but temps climbed to high 40s by match end, with almost no wind and lots of sun, but shade in the FT range due to tree canopy. All Divisions were represented.
The 60 shot match included five sneaky small targets, including a 0.5" at 24 yards, and eight targets set out from 40 to 55 yards. The average difficulty was 29.9 Troyer. Once again, nobody cleared the course. Mike Harris, shooting a beautiful Anschutz took 1st place in WFTF, followed by Rick Bassett with a gorgeous EV2, and Hector with his usual Diana. Frank Moscarillo was 1st in Hunter, with another lovely rifle, a Daystate Red Wolf. We had four shooters in Open Division, for which Mark Mayer got the match high score, followed by Brian Van Liew with an unusual FX field target setup, Al Otter and Rex Gori.
Many thanks to Scott Broom for sharing his portable propane grill dug out of his truck to save the BBQ when we ran out of charcoal.
Our next and final match of the season is on Sunday December 1st. Winter matches are always fun, but be prepared to bring gloves and hand warmers to maintain trigger control!
