DIFTA 1st match of the season Sunday March 10. A nice warm up match after the winter: 60 shots, average around 27 T. Match design by Paolo who explained to me that if you take a chicken and put one end in the oven and the other in the freezer, the average will be around room temp. Expect similar principles for the match with a few really challenging hot shots and a few easy cold ones.

As usual, we run strings starting at 8:30, registration closes at 9:50 and the match starts at 10 am sharp. BBQ after the match.

MATCH REPORT for Sunday March 10

After yet another cold and wet week with some snow, the weather forecast held true and the raid stopped just as we set strings. At the first DIFTA match of the season 4 hardy souls travelled from the far North to join 4 locals for a fun shoot. At the match start temps were in the mid 30s, warming up to the low 50s at the end; the sky was overcast but visibility was good; we had barely any wind, but occasional gentle breezes were enough to trick a few shooters at the far targets. We shot a 60 target match, average difficulty 27.9 T with, a few hot ones at 41, 43, 45 and 47 T to keep everyone interested. Nobody cleared the course, in part due to everyone missing shots they really should have hit if the FT gods were in a good mood. Tom Strong put in his best score to date to win the Hunter Division. Brian Van Liew beat out Mike and Paolo in WFTF, and Mark Mayer barely took the match high score in Open.

One of the great traditions at DIFTA are the post match BBQs for which Paolo supplied sausages and pork chops sourced from a local Amish market, which were grilled to perfection. Our next match is on Saturday April 6.
