GREAT! Now we can have our own mini-version of the "NEFTA Classic" 😉
If this thing works, it could be a GP someday.
Hope to see you all there!

Well it is nice( I mean great!) to see some activity at DCFSA. This club was one of the very early ones to support and have field target matches and airgun matches in general. The facility could handle a grand prix but keep in mind that a GP, run properly, would require a lot of work, manpower, and commitment. Just saying, make haste slowly.

A new 2024 start at the Delaware County PA Field & Stream Association monthly Field Target matches. This April match had had the addition of airgun SILHOUETTE to the Field Target match. Lead reclamation at our normal Field Target limited us to only six lanes of Field Target. (We typically have ten lanes of Field Target.) To 'fill in' for the lost Field Target lanes, we added four lanes of Airgun Silhouette to the match. [36 shots Field Target + 20 shots Silhouette].
Since Silhouette shooting was new to many of us, we had to depend on an expert - Richard Bassett - to clarify the fine points of Silhouette - Thanks Richard!
The Silhouette rules were based on NEFTA Classic (England) rules; Chickens 20 yards, pigs 30 yards, turkeys 36 yards, rams 45 yards - 5 targets each. Thanks Hector for the NEFTA guidance!
It was great to have two new Field Target shooters at our club - Welcome Eric & Ray!
The wind was more noticeable on today's Field Target open field, compared to the typical 'field target forest' in past setups. Impressive scores, despite the wind. The 'Average Troyer' rating for the Field Target portion of the match was 28.1 (without any wind factors.)
Here's the scores - one column for Field Target, a second column for Silhouette, and a total score column...AND...the next match is Sunday May 5th....
Great Shoot, THANKS!
US/NRA rules for MMS (Mexican Metallic Silhouette) are more lenient than the original Mexican ones, LOL! But, then again, back in the early 70's we did not have cable-resetting silhouettes and anyone shooting the wrong target meant a 5 minutes delay to manually reset the 500 meters Rams, ROFL!
It's also funny that Airgun RAM silhouettes were shot at 50 meters, but now they are 45 yards. It's challenging and fun anyway.
The whole affair was a ton of fun and it showed how "rusty" I am in the MMS game. People think they are similar, FT and MMS, but there are nuances and differences enough to make 'em two wholly different cans of worms.
I would suggest we do this at least once a year; if not more often. 😉
The FT section was a bit harder than the numbers would seem to indicate.
Top score for AAFTA's 20 ft-lbs classes was 91% of total (Great shooting, Karen!) and 86% for WFTF's 12 ft-lbs. Classes (Great shooting, Mark!), so that tells more than the "cold Troyer" number.
I'm still experimenting with things, but that is life in FT.

We did not shoot these resettable banks, but the old school flying silhouettes (luckily they had been tethered, LOL!)

Overall a VERY nice day out in the sun with friends and fellow enthusiasts:
Thanks again for hosting the Match, keep well and shoot straight!
