We are pleased to announce that the California State Field Target Championship (an AAFTA GP Match) will be held this year at the San Luis Small Bore Association Range in Morro Bay, CA Sept 13-15th. The match will be hosted by the Sacramento Valley Field Target Club who is giving the CASA club a break from hosting the match this year. The SLOSA range is the home of the Morro Bay Airgunners and has hosted AAFTA GP matches for several years.
This facility is one of the best locations on the West Coast to hold a FT Match. The 2019 CA State Championship will be held on a brand new, never used course. Free grass camping, RV hookups, shower, most meals and practice area are all included in your registration fee. Come on out and enjoy one of the most fun matches in the West. Download the registration for more match information.

PS: If you're not from the West take in two great GP Matches in one trip The CA State Championship and the AZ State Championship will take place on back to back weekends this year!
I will be there! Can't wait.
It is a great venue and always is a good time.
Looking forward to it,
Cameron
Beware that Hotel rates have spiked for that weekend as that is when all the Cal Poly kids come back to school. That is for those of us that either don't have an RV or don't enjoy sleeping in a tent. Lol
Last west coast GP to get ya all warmed up for the State match happening in ASHLAND Oregon this coming weekend.
We're getting closer !! many are getting in some serious practice this coming weekend at the OREGON State FT Championship prior to changing location and going after it at the upcoming California State championship which will be upon us quicker than we think ! ..... Will see many of you in a few days and hopefully some new faces in September.
As stated earlier we're planing some epic meals thanks to JIM C sharing his wild game freezer. So no excuses in not making plans to come to the Southern California coast and spend a few days with like minded Field target shooters, eat some killer food, hang out and just enjoy yourself.

We were hoping for your help but it appears you have thrown in your hat and too tired ?
I think he's saying his hat is in the ring! Could we see the first competition for the Steyr ?

Jim in Sacramento
Indeed. My hat is in the ring. That's my shooting ATTIRE! Ahhhh!!!
Working on the Steyr today, you bet.
Bob
Now when you said you adjusted the trigger weight, did you make it higher or lower??
Yes.
... a tad heavier, actually.
You and Ms. Jessica GO BIG in Britain, buddy!
B
Bob, are you shooting Open or WFTF??
He is set up for OPEN ... pretuned his gun prior to delivering it too him ... barreled it in .20 cal at @ 19.3 ft lbs.
Scott S
Bob, are you shooting Open or WFTF??
Hey, Jim. Open, yes. Trying something different for a bit.
Scott, it's smooooth, buddy. Thanks for your excellent work.
And the very BESTEST local ice cream is down the road at Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab in San Luis Obispo.
It's important we all know that ... level playing field and whatnot.

This is going to be a great match. The Morro Bay range where the match is held is a wonderful facility. If you are a camper you can come to the match, set up your tent or camper and never have to leave the range until it's time to go home. All meals and beverages are included in your match fees (if you elect to purchase the Saturday dinner), great camping, showers, practice range and relaxing areas to enjoy shooting the breeze with your fellow competitors. If you've never been to an AAFTA GP match this is the one to attend. And just to add some icing on the cake if you're on your game you could win one of the neatest trophies in all of Field Target Land.
Four lucky shooters will win one of these (with a twist to honor our home state)
The rest of the high finishers will get one of these (also with a CA twist )
Don't miss the west coast match of the year!

Ron,
looking forward to seeing you once again at the 2019 Cal state FT ... We are working hard to make this a memorable event in not only course challenges but meals and general hospitality too.

Excited for another great match this year!
Jacob,
Due to so few Piston shooters, while the individual classes will be acknowledged for GP points ... ALL piston gun shooters are lumped together for the Piston class trophies.
Looks like we're about filled up …. If you ever wanted to shoot FT doing so with many of the countries best shooters ( certainly many of the west coasts best ) get on the list and come on out to Morro Bay for a couple days. Great food, libations & what is to be an EPIC FT course with targets no one outside of the SVFTC has ever shot at.
CYA in Morro !

Indeed we're getting close. The work crew leaves for Morro Bay on Tuesday with a lot to do in 3 days. We have the tools and manpower so we should be in fine shape and ready to go by the weekend.

I will be there weds or Thurs to help
I'll be there to help, starting Tuesday afternoon.
I'll have one gun to sell (including provenance and accessories). A trusty gun that has sat for awhile, but needs to be used:
Scott, that rifle caused many of us severe pain and headaches when used by you and Alan. Someone is going to end up with a great shooting FT rifle.
Anyone looking to pitch in with the match setup, Thursday and Friday will be the best days to help. The weather for the weekend looks great, even a little warm for Morro Bay. This is going to be a fun match with some great food!

Well, the Cal State 2019 is history
Best food ever

Thank you Jim, Scott, Dawn, and the rest of the Sac Valley folks who worked very hard to put this match on. You guys did a great job.
Back at ya, Darren. You 12 ft lb guys have Grande Huevos.
Got home today ( Monday ) @ 4:30 .... that had to have been the fastest week in recent memory .... hard to fathom 7 days away in pulling off this match 350 miles away.
going to be a spell to unload, go over the stats of troyer, get a match report drafted etc ...

It was an amazing match! Lots of fun, great food and company.
Thank you to to everyone that hosted and helped to make it possible.
Course was on the tough side with the wind. And very well set up.
Hope to never see those psycho squirrels again lol.
Hope to never see those psycho squirrels again lol.
BE the squirrel, Jacob. BE the squirrel. ?
B
Lol.
Have to say those squirrels were very well painted. And did the job intended.
I am seeing a pattern here though. On the West Coast we try and make the course hard enough to beat the best shooters.

You simply can never keep everyone happy ... Some want vanilla targets simple and plain, others life like. So we did neither .... Beaver from the toxic waste dump perhaps ?? LOL
Come end of the day we're asking all the shooters to shoot the same targets ... either you can or you can't and the best shooters will rise to the top as they typically do.
Was not a complaint, at all. Stating that it was done for a purpose and it worked. And then I took a small shot at easy set courses.
But now I feel as if you took a shot at my shooting abilities lol.
Ouch Scott! OUCH.
Jacob ... It was a general statement, no direction towards you. All weekend was little bits of chatter about the targets, some of WTH !! or KEWL that's different.
Now as too your shooting ... you shoot a springer and that's tough enough on a course set to challenge the best PCP shooters. You done good !!
Scott S
I was just poking fun at ya Scott.
And I thank you for the complement. Means a lot coming from one of the best.
@jacob-sumner
...you never saw the targets the FIRST time our painter went INSANE.....he has mellowed...just sayin
Lol ... OFFER STILL STANDS
Any SVFTC member who can take over the maintenance and storing of the clubs 36 Field targets can paint them ANY WAY THEY WISH & Frankly after 5 seasons wish someone would step up.
Scott S
Yep, and if anyone is to blame it's me.
I thought it would be fun to bring a bunch of paint pens to a repaint day at Diablo spring 2013 or 2014.
Camo squirrel, cow pig and the piñata party frog were the standouts among the various results produced that day...who knew it would spread like mushrooms on the forest floor. The only question left, is it controlling us, or are we controlling it?
Release the CowPig!!
