BCSA September 11th, 2021 Match Report

On this somber day, we had our 5th match of the 2021 season at BCSA. We had an excellent Fall type day with temperatures starting out in the upper 40’s and ending in the upper 60’s. There was also just enough breeze at times to rethink your hold before pulling the trigger!

My wife Pat and I arrived at the range around 6:30 am to start pulling strings and getting the rest of the FT course set-up. Just as we finished that, Brian VanLiew arrived and jumped in and helped us set-up the sight in range……the help was greatly appreciated! In no time flat, we were set and ready for the day!

We had another light turnout with just 9 people on hand for the day. The course of fire was 10 lanes with 3 targets per lane. 2 shots per target with the shooting order being left, middle, right. There was also the usual 1 standing lane and 1 kneeling lane. The stats for the days 60 shot course are as follows:

No Cold Lines and other than the string getting caught up on the Egrets foot once and a while, all went well! Brian VanLiew took Match high honors for the day with a 56 in Open PCP! The next nearest competitor was Nathan Thomas who shot a 45 in WFTF Piston! Great going guys!

After the conclusion of the rifle match, a bunch of the competitors jumped in and helped pick up and pack away the rifle targets. After a short break 6 of us took to the lanes for the pistol/low powered non magnified match! Brian VanLiew was the lone pistol shooter and was shooting Hunter Pistol with his custom FX Elite. The remainder of us all shot the low powered rifle class. Doug Dunlap joined us for the second match and shot his stocked Crosman 1720 for fun! Always nice to see him and Betsy!

The course of fire was 10 lanes with 2 targets per lane. 2 shots per target with the shooting order being left, right. There were 2 standing lanes and the stats for the days 40 shot course are as follows:

We had 1 cold line due to a couple of people walking in the woods beyond our range. Pat took care of that and we were back to the action in short order!! After the conclusion of the match, those of us remaining jumped in and made  super quick work of the cleanup as usual then decided on a place for lunch! As always, all the help is GREATLY appreciated!

Our last match of 2021 will be October 9th! Hope to see you there!

Thanks again Greg and Patt! Good to see familiar faces at the match. A beautiful day to get out.

And a good match to get under my belt just before the Grand Prix at CCGC and Burning River.
