FT Match Report Arlington Sportsman’s Club 12/20/2025

Welcome to the ASC FT December 2025 match report.  We had 20 shooters show up for our pre-Christmas match with gifts for Mission Arlington Charities, and we had a Christmas miracle too!  As has become tradition at ASC, any shooter who brings a new unwrapped toy to the match gets a free entry.  I take all the donations and deliver them to Mission Arlington for distribution during the holidays.  This year, the shooters donated 12 toys for lucky girls and boys.  Scott Cotton decided to shoot his one FT match per year too!  It was truly a Christmas miracle.  One thing I really like about Texas is the mild winter weather, because it didn’t really feel like December; it felt like an awesome fall day.  In fact, it was 81F today at the end of the match!  Warm winter days like today usually mean the higher-than-normal winds, and that was very true today with average winds 5-6mph and gusts to 12mph.  That doesn’t sound very fast, but the woods funnel and filter the winds and cause them to swirl in ways you cannot detect, so anyone shooting lighter pellets (me included) suffered mightily at the hands of that devilish wind.

The Troyer today was 33.8 with 30 targets on 10 lanes resulting in a 60-shot match.  But one of our targets failed in a most spectacular way near the beginning of the match, so we pulled it and were left with a 58-shot match.  There was one offhand and one kneeling lane with three targets each, and the kneeling lane had a 49.9 Troyer target that ended up being the most difficult shot on the course.  Anyone who got that one twice or even once wore a big smile on their face.  The match ran smoothly except for the failed target, but the southern sun was right in the scopes because the leaves have fallen, and it challenged shooters today without a sunshade, hat, or eyecup to keep out the bright rays.

Here are the results for November:

Scotty H won Hunter PCP 51/58 shooting his RAW TM1000, besting Billy D also with a 51/58 shooting his RAW HM1000 by better offhand lane performance, and Okie Rick C finished in 3rd one point behind Billy with 50/58 shooting his FX Royale.  Rick K shot 55/58 in Unlimited for high score overall to win with his FX Crown, while Jerry P finished 2nd tied with Buddy W both with 36/58.  Long-time ASC, but MIA shooter Clifton M finished 1st in WFTF PCP with 41/58 shooting his Daystate Tsar.

You can see the results below and also be sure to review the results at https://airgunshoot.com/ that shows the average score on each lane, your score on each lane, your hit percentage by lane or near/mid/far targets, how you compare to your class average, your class winner, and the HOA winner.  Thanks to Scott Cotton for his continuing work on this.  Tell him thanks next time you see him.

Thank you so much to those who help pick up the targets and roll up strings after the match is over and thanks to Paul who got everything put away in the barn.

See you next month back to our regular 4th Saturday January 24 for our next match.

Jeff Cloud and Scott Cotton
