Remarks:
For the CT State Match, Scott V laid out the course. He used a lot of targets with smaller kill zones. The average distance reduced from 40 plus to under 32 yards. The average kill zone size was 1” as opposed to 1 3/8”. One third of the targets were over 40 yards making it complaint with AAFTA Grand Prix rules.
It was cold with little wind when the match started, but the wind picked up on occasion during the match to 9 mph towards the end. It was sunny but we were mostly under the shade of the trees.
After a brief safety meeting, we had people assigned squads and lanes. We had an odd number of people. So, we had one squad with three people, and the rest had two person squads. We had two people shooting one at each lane and one scoring.
Khoa Tran Jr continued his solid shooting by only dropping 4 points shooting in sometimes windy conditions. David F and Lan N both tied for 2nd, but David had one more point at the standing lane, and both had shot the same at the kneeling lane. So, David took 2nd and Lan took 3rd.
Dick H had misplaced his detachable side wheel back home but shot anyways.
Scott had planned on shooting WFTF PCP but could not find his click chart and decided to shoot Hunter PCP instead.
We had several cold lines. The Remington Hog target on the standing lane broke after many years exposed to elements. It was replaced with a Rhino taregt. Scott will be able to reweld the broken piece easily on the Hog target. The squirrel target with a 3/8” kill zone locked up consistently and was impossible to pull up when it was knocked down flat. I had to add a larger clamp on the back to prevent it from falling too far down. One target on a small concrete block fell over and had to be staked in placed with railroad spikes.
After the match, lunch was served. Rotisserie chicken, macaroni and cheese, beans and brownies were served.
After the CT state awards were given out, we gave out the New England Field Target League awards. Please thank Pyramyd AIR for supplying gift cards to the winners.
