Fun Shoot - Bernie D
Remarks:
It was a muggy day to shoot in the woods. Some light winds on occasion. We had 18 shooters coming from CT, MA and NY.
The course was the same as it was set up for the Grand Prix except for the Butterfly target on Lane 11.
We had moved the target closer and higher up the tree for a 37 degrees angle shot instead of 21 degrees.
We had three cold lines. One was a faulty target that was replaced and a tree target that slipped from its clamps.
Rain was forecasted sometime in the afternoon. The rain came around 1:30 pm when most of the shooters had one lane left to shoot. Once every was done, heavy rain came pouring down.
We had two tie breakers for 2nd and 3rd place and 6th and 7th. Since it started raining heavily by the end of the regular match, we decided to break the ties by counting the positional lanes – kneeling and standing combined.
We had continental breakfast before the start of the match and sausage and pepper sandwiches after the match. We had lunch under the outdoor pavilion while it rained heavily for the next two hours.
Mark and Linda McLean were displaying and selling a bunch of their leather goods and knives. Many of us bought at least one knife from them. The Damascus steel knives were very popular.
Bill and Cindy had the Paul Porch custom face plate WFTC Giraffe field target on display. Beautiful work Paul. I think Paul will be selling more of these replacement face plates soon.
Thank you all who attended and made donations to the Dumond family. This match was dedicated to the memory of Mike “Dumonator” Dumond who passed away from cancer last month in August. All proceeds and donations will be given to the Dumond family.
Ron Dumond was in Maryland this weekend for his daughter’s wedding.
