Results of Sherwood Airgunners USARB benchrest shoot on March 21, 2021
Twelve shooters attended the match on Sunday at Sherwood Airgunners near Steubenville Ohio this past Sunday . Many of our regular shooters from neighboring clubs decided not to make the trip for the final match of the indoor season this time. Attendance was low but we decided to go ahead with the shoot as planned as we had some young shooters that were looking forward to shooting and we didn’t want to disappoint!! They are the future of our sport!!
Youth PCP class was contested by two siblings Allyson and Braden Tutak from Pennsylvania with Allyson coming out on top besting her brother with a 702 12x to her brothers 682 5x scores. Good job by both of them!!
The youth Spring piston class was won by Bradon with a 501 for first place after three cards. He had quite a work out cocking and shooting his HW97 all by himself!! Good job Braden!!
The USA Spring Piston class had three shooters this time with Sherwood’s own Al Duster from Brookville Pa. once again topping the field shooting his Walther LGU narrowly missing setting the USARB record by only two points with a 243 9x / 246 8x / 244 6x total of 733 23x’s It was a real nail bitter as we watched Al come so close to doing it!! Maybe next year!! Hopefully!! Second place was Mike Campialla a new shooter this year in his first match shooting a nice 661 5x total and in third place was Walt Tutak Jr. with a 551 2x
The normally heavily contested “Heavy Varmint” class was missing a lot of the heavy hitters from the Northeast Ohio club this time so the scores were down a bit from the usual near perfect ones that are normally shot at these matches. Jeff Little shooting his RAW TM 1000 started off good with a 250 /18x first card followed by a 249 / 15x second card but couldn’t keep the pace shooting a 246/13x on his third card for a 745/ 46x total with Dave Campbell in second also shooting a RAW Tm 1000 with a total of739 27x total. Third place was decided by x count with Joe Tricomi coming out with two more x’s over Carl Lucas whom had the only other 250 card of the day both men shooting 733’s with 20 and 22 x’s for the tie breaker!!
All in All It was a good day at Sherwood even with the poor turnout !! Hopefully we can get back to our normal shoot schedule and attendance next fall after we hopefully recover from the virus outbreak!! HOPEFULLY!!!!! See you then!! J.L. Match Director Sherwood Airgunners
