I have an older R7 that looks like, pretty sure it has been triggered off. The barrel is slightly bent upwards and the breech block doesn't look aligned properly with the receiver. My worry is that if I get the barrel straightened, it will still shoot high.
In my opinion some metal work is needed. Slade is out of salts at the moment. Watts is not taking work. Who are the good gunsmiths in the airgun world.
Might as well have a breech pivot pin insert put in as well.
Its shot cycle is great but, point of impact is way up there and it would take a ski ramp mount to get on target.
As much as I'd loathe writing off a gun, there must be a point where repairs are a large enough fraction of the cost of a new gun to make that a more logical choice. If the gun has sentimental value, this does not apply.
juyst replace the barrel it is 100 bucks plus shipping from PA
you canned ship it 2 ways and get the work done for a 100 bucks
Beeman R7 / HW30S Barrel, .177 Cal. | Pyramyd Air
if you think that screw up the rifle, well the bent barrel has done that already
If the barrel is "straightened" and still hits high, then just adjust it down some more. Simple as that.
Provided it still locks up reliably, that's a 20 minute fix that anyone with a vise can do.
I'd just take the barrel off and put it in a vise with soft jaws (or just some aluminum sheet, not coil stock something thicker. Even hard wood like oak.). Now just bend it back. Use a straight edge to get it close and put it back together. What ya got to lose? The guys bend the droop out of their air rifle barrels all the time. NBD.
I have done that on other guns but, the breech block looks out of kilter as well. See Paul Watts rock solid R7 youtube video... he discusses this very issue and that not too many do a proper repair... I want someone with that kindof repair experience... Ithink I will take it to the Ark airgun show and have Slade look at it.
Jmo, An arbor press and some poly/Oak blocks should do the trick if the barrel is indeed the issue. I would start the bend as close to the breech block as possible. Bending in the middle will make it a banana and that is unaccceptable to me. Just make small adjustments a little at a time. A fresh breech seal wouldnt be a bad idea either.

I think you may be making a mountain out of a mole hill. The repair you need is pretty easy as several have mentioned.
@jim-bentley
Thanks Jim, I will try straightening the barrel and go from there.
Arbor press eh? Hmmm, got some oak (seasoned oak), I need a jig saw anyway... Arbor press at HF not too mc$h...
Thanks for the link Sonny, i mean BB, you rock... (I miss the blogs... oh well, you must have a new boyfriend)
You really don't need all of that. A solid mounted vise and a couple small blocks of wood is all that's needed. The bend will be near the breech block, and it's not a critical alignment procedure. Just bend it till it's right and you're done. They aren't hard to bend. You'd waste more time building and buying stuff than it would take to fix it.
But it's your wave, ride it how you like.

I have my own well tooled little machine shop out back. I'd just do what Limbshaker said. Pretty much what I suggested above. A simple procedure. Why aren't you finished yet? ?

My exes boyfriend wont let me use my old stuff, lol...
Thanks, I need to bend the barrel downwards at the breech... How can I imobilize the breech (without disassembling and that wont stress the breech/receiver surfaces) on the cheap. Then I can come up with a cheater pipe to slip over barrel and bend... Got to get on it, stock is on the way...
Remove the barrel, and put the breech block in a vise padded with wood blocks. Then simply grab the barrel and bend it in the direction it needs to go. You won't need a cheater pipe most likely, they aren't hard to bend.
You're going to need to remove the barrel, but it's just the pivot bolt and the nut to remove it.
Done
