That link, while interesting, doesn't seem to be able to narrow things down much. It shows my R1 as 1982-3, which I guess is fine enough. But my R9 shows a four year window, 1998-2001.

@hkshooter

Try "The List". It takes a bit more work finding your serial number but it might narrow it down a little more because you can see when other serial numbers on either side of yours were made. So if you put your serial number into the search and it gives you say 2008 or 2009, then you might be able to narrow that down in the list because numbers on either side of yours are listed as 2009.

(Note: This is a huge list and may take some time to load.)

But probably the best way to find out just when yours was made is to email HW and ask them directly.

Interesting Jim. I found my P1, sn#309417, to be made in 1985 which is the same year as the P1's introduction but it wasn't sold until 2006? If I'm reading this correctly that's pretty wild. Sat on a store shelf all those years?

Sorry for jumping in on the OP...

EDIT I see now from the symbol table that the production year cannot be determined. It's a San Rafael.

Hi, Bo. Yeah, there are a lot of symbols to watch out for, lol. And another thing to note is the column just to the right of the "Purchased" column, the one labeled "Secondhand". If it says "Yes" in the "Secondhand" column then your P1 has had more than one owner before someone finally listed it on that site. They may be the one who purchased it in 2006 so that's the date they gave. Without knowing who the original owner was there's probably no way of knowing when it was bought new.

@jim-in-swmo, neat list, thanks. I tried to add my rifle but the system wouldn't let me without a production date, which I don't know exactly. They asked that it not be a guess. Maybe I'll hear back from the admin.

@hkshooter

I've never tried to add any of mine to the list so don't know what all it takes to do it. But I did see that it said if the date of manufacture was unknown to leave it blank. Also, if you look on the home page it says that the site hasn't been "actively" maintained since May of 2018. So it may just take a little while before an entry shows up. But I see that there have been guns added to the list as recently as today. And the WDB's Twitter page appears to still be active.

So not sure what to tell you. But do let us know how it goes if you hear back from the admin there. Good luck!

EDIT: Well, that's odd. I had the link to the Twitter page in my post but it didn't show up when I posted my response. Anyway, you can find the link to that on their "contact" page, which is on the "submit" page, lol.

Per the notes above, about 1982 or 83. HW rifle no. 1,000,000 was an HW 35 made in 1983.

Yeah, 1983 is what it looks to be. This gun, except for the fact the sights are MIA, is in excellent condition. The cocking/shot cycle is smooth as silk, probably been tuned at some point and time (edit to add: A long time ago, gun is now on its way for a rebuild).

I found an old cheapie scope in my junk, this gun is accurate too, more so then me (edit to add: putting iron sights on it).

Now to get a green lamp... 🙂

@jim-in-swmo, well I haven't heard back from the admin on that website yet but I have heard back from Weirauch. My R1 was delivered in 1984. That's around the same time I became enamored with Beeman and "adult airguns" at 14 years old.

I suppose now I could add my gun to The List.

@hkshooter

Well, you might not be on The List (yet) but at least you know for sure when your R1 was made. Did you happen to ask them about your R9 since the database showed it had such a wide possibility of manufacture dates?

BTW, keep an eye on the database's Twitter page. They're still adding to the list (3 new listings so far today) so yours "might" show up yet.

(Tried once again to add the link to their Twitter page but for some reason the forum just won't let me.)

That's because you are linking the entire profile page. You need to click the share links buttons to post specific tweets.

I did not, thought about it only after I hit the "send" button but I may go ahead and send another message.

So I used the new info and added my rifle to the database. It appeared almost instantly. And I've sent another email to Weihrauch about my R9. Hope they don't feel I'm a pest.
