Hello everybody, this is my first post. I wanted to share some of my issues and experiences with my recently purchased Western airguns Rattler 357. I have owned it for 3 months now.   Like most of us, I cleaned the barrel pretty thoroughly when I first received the airgun.  I even took it to the next step and polished the barrel and face of the barrel where it meets the magazine.

I found that when you reinstall the barrel it must be precisely positioned. The magazine needs to rotate freely, but no air should escape from the breech, when you fire it. I also found that if the magazine moves too freely (too much head space) it may rotate two positions instead of just one- like it should. The magazine rotates clockwise and should rotate One chamber at a time. Mine would sometimes rotate further (2) and leave you thinking the mag was empty when it was not.

I ended up buying a collar clamp (15 mm inside diameter) and placing it on the barrel between the shroud and front of the frame. It made it easier to reinstall the barrel and added some peace of mind that the barrel wouldn't move inward. I had to shorten the carbon fiber shroud by about 8 to 10 mm so the moderator fit on the end of the barrel correctly.

The gun shoots pretty well, but I still have some issues with the magazine not rotating one chamber at a time. It does shoot the High Arc  174 grain slugs very well. Of course you have to turn the power wheel and the regulator up. Just be mindfull of your back stop. I shot a hole in an old Land Rover fender, over shooting my target- these slugs carry a lot of power.

Have any of you had issues with the magazine ? Caused by the barrel moving , in/out after shooting several mags? I even thought about drilling and taping the frame or receiver to place grub screws to help secure the barrel better.  Ideally Western airguns should have designed the barrel to screw in tight to the breech and tensioned at the end like the Edguns do..

Any thoughts??
