Congrats on the R9, Mike.

I just got a new R9, too. Big Brown delivered it Friday. And it came with the Rat on the Run target, too. Mine's in .177 and like you I thought pretty hard about the refurb they had. But I decided to pass on it because I prefer guns that have open sights as an option and the description said the refurb didn't have sights. I'm glad to hear that yours came with sights.

I'm with you on the stock. I really like it. It's beefy without feeling chunky and it shoulders well, too. Only (minor) disappointment with the stock is that it doesn't have palm swells like the stock on my HW50S. But I can live it, lol.

Only had a chance to run about 15 shots thru it so far but....me likey! LOL It has really good balance and feels lighter than what the specs say. The cocking isn't bad and I was kind of surprised that the barrel pivot didn't need to be loosened like my other HWs. Good shot cycle with just a little bit of spring noise. Nothing I couldn't live with if I had too, lol. I don't get along that well with open sights anymore but the accuracy looks promising. I'll know for sure after it gets scoped.

Haven't run it over the chrono yet. Tomorrow is supposed to be pretty nasty here weather wise so might do that in the basement tomorrow.

Enjoy the R9, Mike. When you can find the time to!

That's pretty cool  you grabbed one too.

I was  all set  on  adding a hand  brake  on  the R  9 but was really glad it came thru  with  the open  sights  it  creates a different look  one  way over the other. mine already showed me it was accurate  at the 17 yds I was not properly set up to shoot  but  it fared very well  in spite of  it.

Lol, I know what you mean about the brake. I've got a 6" Apex from ARH that I was thinking about putting on mine but I'm starting to think maybe I'll either leave the sights on it or leave the barrel naked.

Glad to hear that yours is a shooter. Gives me hope for mine, lol.

What scope did you put on yours? I've got an older 4-12x40 Hawke Airmax I'm going to use as a temporary scope on mine. But I'd like to get a 3-9x40 Nikon EFR for it. I've got one on my HW50S and I really like that scope. I'm hoping the new generation of the EFR is as good as the original ones were.

Great video, Mike. I recently bought a gently used R9 in 20 caliber off the classifieds here. Just love it.

Mike, great stuff. If the Blue stock special edition ever need surgery it's headed your way.  Nice fine. Tommy
