It’s been a while so I can only offer a couple tidbits and even those are vague memories...
The earlier BB’s were favored for quite a while for there purpose. Small, lowish power. Complaint was often the thick reticle. Can’t speak for changes over time but when the 3-12 came out, a smaller/ thinner reticle was part of it and maybe the whole line.
If you are looking for range finding FT style... all I can say is that mine was vague and the tiny bell ring certainly wasn’t enough for any precision.
If you are looking at a couple of know distances in your yard and want a small scope... its a good choice. That said, is it really any better than than the 3-9 or other varieties? It’s a tiny scope so it depends upon application
My aging eyes are very satisfied with a recently mounted a 3-12x32 Bugbuster on my FWB 603 a Junior. As already stated the reticle could be thinner but I think the clarity of glass, increased magnification and side focus are an improvement over the the 3-9 Bugbuster that now rides on my Ruger 10-22. It's an excellent light weight scope for even twice the price.
