Greetings,

First post on the new yellow. As the title suggests it is about a new to me QB78. The abundance of air rifle models can be overwhelming. I came across this QB by accident, and it seems everyone has owned or owns a QB. Just wanted to share this as I enjoy the basic accuracy and simplicity and durability.

The QB78 shown is parts gathered from around the US. The action is from a well known stock maker, the stock is from a Texas air gun guru, (thanks Austin) and the trigger is from an outstanding gentleman from Washington. The parts appear to be in line as far as manufacturing date. The action had to be cleaned out sawdust and rust with steel wool. It appeared to be unfired. The o-rings were coming apart but the valve was unused.

The bottom one is the (new to me) older version in .22. The more recent is a .177.

The label on the stock is vintage looking, don't know how old.

In the background is the targets to the right at 30 yards. Here's the group I shot using the dovetail sight and the table to steady...it was getting dark but the accuracy is not the QBs fault.

The breech and the barrel band do not have the same appearance as 'modern' versions. The band is steel with a hex grub on each side and the "Industry Brand" is stamped in the breech. The only modification was the bolt and new freezer line transfer port. It was about 70 degrees but the velocity is what you would expect, around 600fps using CPHPs.

Enjoy.

Just bought a AR2078 from PA. So far so good. I like the thumbhole and the de-gasing valve. I took the front sight off and slid the barrel weight up flush with the muzzle.
