Topped with Bushnell elite 3200 4-12x40MM. When you put this stock in the sun the wood characteristics really come out. This stock has some type of sheen finish that is not present in some other Hyedua stocks I've owned. It seems Theoben was not just changing up their stocks from Hyedua to walnut, but the finishes as well. Wonder if the blue book has pricing between the stock options, and when did Theoben change over to walnut stocks (There were four revisions of this model). Never shot this one either!
I use to own one of those back in the day
Me too. Mine was a .20 that I bought new from Straight Shooters. Needed the money so I sold it about a dozen years ago. It may still be in Sonny's collection lol I didn't have it long but if I remember, it shot the Kodiaks as well as the now defunct brown box premiers. It shot like a laser from hell.
The finishes and wood grain do seem to vary from one Theoben to the next. That one does appear to be a good bit glossier than most. I seem to recall Theoben went to walnut because the African Hyedua became a protected species. Not sure exactly when they did that but IIRC it was around the mid 2000's. I could easily be wrong in all this. I believe the last Beeman model (Crow Magnum) was version IV, as stated. I don't know if the serial number sequence differ from the Beeman line or not. I thought the last change incorporated in the version IV was improved bushings in the Dampa mount. I'd be interested in knowing the changes of the other three versions.
I just saw this post: https://airgunwarriors.com/community/airgun-talk/theoben-stock-option-questions/ WOW!
Can't help but wonder if not shooting these for looong periods of time is harmful to the seals?
