Hopefully the answer is easy: what should I do for a gun being taken out of longer term storage before shooting it ?

I'm thinking at a minimum, I should oil the barrel.  Or I could do a full clean and lube.  What would you guys do ?

nothing

they should have been put away cleaned and lubed ( wiped down ) and should be ready to go

if you touch it it gets wiped down, if you look at it take the time and wipe it down

but i have no idea what long term storage means 6month or 10 years

if the latter you could seal or o-ring problems but you will know after shooting amybe

Ask Sonny, he's got more guns in long term storage than any one I know.

CO2 - it's my Diana Chaser.  Completely cleaned and oiled before being stored.

What you need for long term gun case storage :

no rust bag:

http://norustbags.net/

Silicone cloth:

MP-5 oil:

https://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Air_Venturi_MP_5_Oil_Metalophilic_4oz/612

I've had the no rust bags for nearly 20 years.  They are rated for 5.  Called the mfg.  They said when the bag is browning and hardening, throw it away.  They are still yellow and supple.

Call norustbags for a discount for large orders, such as 10 or more.  I've only purchased the 12" x 52" (6 mil) bags for scoped rifles.

For the metal I use MP-5; ballistol for the stock.  You can buy it on amazon

Make sure MP-5 dries before putting the gun in the bag!

Use the silicon cloth if you take the gun out of the bag for a quick pest kill or show and tell session.

As for springer/rams, I do nothing.  Keep the gun at 100BAR for PCP's.  The R1 book said to to store springers upside down, but that is not realistic if you have many.  I have not had any issues storing them vertically.

It should be fine.  I would cycle the action to redistribute the lubricants and add a drop of oil if it seems dry.  I would put 3 drops of Crosman Pellgun Oil or automatic transmission fluid on the end of the powerlet to blow some oil onto the seals for the first few powerlets.
