Does anyone know of any self healing airgun rated targets. If not have any ideas for suitable material that would work for home made ones.
Thanks

There are several target threads on this forum that will help.  The only nondestructive targets I know of will be the thick steel pieces.  Perhaps you may be looking for the resetting type of target.

There are two types of self healing targets. Those that are "hard enough" to allow them to react to hits, and those that simply are designed to heal as a backer for other targets (paper or painted on)

For those reactive ideas, I would simply buy these:

Doall is a good company with years of experience in the shooting sports.

For those target backers/target replacement ideas I would try this:

http://www.usafoam.com/closedcellfoam/polyethylene.html

Get the 1" thick foam

Cover with orange colored duct tape, then paint it flat black.

Repaint as needed and replace tape as needed.

There's a good video here:

Another material you might find more easily is Stall Mat:

I've used this material as well. Often put in place of the cardboard on mulch boxes. Bit more quiet when indoors.

Hector,

Thank you for all this great info and links.

Another suggestion, I get old vote for me signs the day AFTER a election. The sign material is plastic cardboard called Chloroplast. It doesn't shed paper particles AND can get wet. I use it for facing my rubber mulch cardboard boxes. It does eventually get all shot up. I just tape another hunk of Chloroplast over the shot up layer and it's good to go for a long time.
