So I recently acquired a lovely HW90 in .20 and the rifle is great. However I have never had any experience with a gas ram powered rifle before this and I’d like to top it with something that can handle the shot cycle of this beast. One forum member recommended a weaver V16 but I can’t seem to find them anywhere other than a few on eBay. Would any other forum members who shoot or own guns that eat scopes like candy care to weigh in on possible options? I plan to mount it in a BKL one piece drooper mount and I’d prefer a 3-18x or 4-16x but I’m all ears if you have wisdom to share!
thanks!
I recommend an old Bushnell 4x12 Trophy. Back in the day they were one of the only scopes that would hold up to the RWS 54 that was a scope killer.

Some scopes I've used in the past on Patriots, 1250's, Kodiaks, and 54's....
Trophy (the old ones)
Bushnell Legend 5-15
and believe it or not, Leapers. I've got probably 50 or so various Leapers/UTG/whatever they call themselves and have only had to send one back and Tina at Leapers was great to work with.
Your choice of a one piece BKL is prudent and it will hold fine.

The scope is important, but the scope mount is doubly important. I am using an RWS ZR (zero recoil) mount on my D54. Granted, my D54 is detuned to below 12 fpe, but the mount is a lifesaver. It is spring loaded but returns to zero each time the gun is shot. There is very little perceivable movement in the scope/mount, but would rather have the whole mechanism move than the internals of a good scope.
Plenty of information out there regarding this mount, even on YouTube.

So I have discovered that if I stick with the BKL one piece drooper I’m stuck with 1” rings unfortunately.
What is the consensus on sportsmatch dampa mounts? Would I be better off with one of these mounts with 30mm rings or would I be better finding a scope to fit and hold up with the BKL drooper mount and an older scope that’s known to be stout enough to handle the gas ram?
thanks!

Do you see a problem with buying from eBay?
I've had good experience with them when I choose with discretion (for instance I like buyers who have lots of good ratings, and who offer free returns within 30 days).
The V-16 offers focus to below 10 yards, and the 849408 version is the one that comes with a duplex reticle, which is the one I prefer, as opposed to the fine cross hair reticle. The current listing shows a good price, with free shipping to boot:
I found them at other places, too, but it looks like ebay has the better price for now:

The V-24 is also good, with focus down to below 12 yards.

No ive purchased plenty of cycling parts from eBay, was just a little wary about something like a scope but you made a good point. So I decided to just bite the bullet and get something proven, Weaver V16 with the BKL drooper. I appreciate all the input folks!

I bought a used Sony CD player/tape player (very-reasonable price), HO train locomotive and track and cars, and maybe some paint pens from like 6 different sellers there. All had good reviews, and all delivered what they said they would. The lady I bought the Sony CD player from even threw in a power cord and perfectly good remote control. Zero bad experiences out of 6, but like I said I read the description and reviews very-carefully. Best wishes on YOUR purchase.
Natchez Shooters Supply might (still) have new V-16s; and if so, at good prices.
New set up is currently on the way! eBay had a good deal at $280 something for the v16
I have a RX2 .20cal and it has a Bushnell Engage 4-12x and a sportsmatch 1pc mount hth
