I am looking for information on an unusual airgun that came with a large collection I bought. It is a Sarsilmaz SSS Special Mod 500. It is a lap loading side lever with a checkered walnut stock and a plastic pistol grip. The cocking stroke is short. I only shot a few shots. It sounds like it is dieseling. The velocities I got were in the 475 to 500 fps range.

Very interesting.

I only know Sarsilmaz as a Turkish firearms manufacturer, did not know they made an airgun too.

Back in the 1990's, Myron Kasock acquired a small number of these "military trainers" on a business trip to Turkey.  His glowing description didn't convince me to buy one from him, but a couple years ago I found one available and snapped it up; they're actually a nicely made gun and certainly rare.  Before your post the only other one I've seen was at Myron's 2003 auction - actually, your photo sure looks like Myron's gun and if its S/N is M229 that is for sure the case.

I haven't been able to find any info on these guns at all.  Maybe a GTA member in Europe will see this and offer something...?

@david_enoch Looks identical to a Norica 47, right down to the squared off plastic pistol grip. I had one for a while, but with a much plainer beech stock. Maybe made under license? Interesting gun.

Well spotted Jim. Although I am inclined to think it a re-brand rather than a licensed manufacturing deal thing.

Hey there, nice to hear from you. I have M 229.  Now, what to do with it.

Jim, do you know the power or fps for the Norica 47?

Thanks,

The 1992 Norica catalog claims 190 mps so around 623 FPS

FWIW, the last time I was at Findlay, 2 years ago, I saw my 47 on someone else's table, for $100. Someone had bedlinered the stock, and it actually didn't look bad. I knew it was mine because it had a small setscrew that I added to the tap-loader handle, to prevent over-rotation and make bore alignment adjustable.
