Greetings all: This is my first post on the Yellow after a hiatus of at least 3 years. My old handle was JB in NC, and my new handle (Boomerang) refers to the fact that I have relocated back to my hometown in the upper mid-west after 33 years in central NC. Compared to my previous situation the shooting opportunities are not great in my suburban neighborhood, but I do have 23 yards in the basement! I have looked around the new forum and do not see the "board of inquiry" which I think used to be the peer rating service for buyers and sellers -- does this still exist?
Thanks much, and merry post-xmas!

Hi boomerang! Welcome back!
I found it by tapping the Forum Menu icon at the top of this page, then tapping on the word Forums in the drop-down menu that shows up when you do that. Let's see if this link works...
https://airgunwarriors.com/community/board-of-inquiry/
Thanks very much for the reply and the link! Are you the same person I remember who lived in Northern NC and had great success on squirrels with your R9?
I suppose all the BOI listings prior to the Forum reboot have been migrated to the great electronic trash bin in the sky? I may be listing a couple of my springers for sale soon, and Forum members are rightfully skeptical of new members selling airguns. Do the archives include BOI listings?
Thanks again,
JB
You're very welcome!
I think you're thinking of a different Ed. We had an Ed in NC, who was originally Ed in WV. That would be North Carolina, and West Virginia, respectively. And you're exactly right, he was quite the squirrel hunter!
He was an avid springer shooter in general. He also did quite a bit of home-shop springer tuning IIRC, the majority of that on his own or his friends' or relatives' guns IIRC (there were some exceptions). He also did me a couple of nice favors. He was an all-around good guy-- that's something I can attest to myself.
I haven't heard or seen much of him for the last few years. I heard it through the grapevine that he might have started doing more PCP shooting. That is, I can't confirm it. But, if so, I'm sure he's doing a great job of that, too.
As for me, I've been shooting springers for more than 20 years. I also have a modest little business tuning them, with some good success stories to tell.
As far as the BOI information on the old forum, I know there's an option on this one, to 'Search the Old Yellow'-- something like that. But, for some reason my memory is telling me that the old BOI posts aren't included in that.
I can't tell you any more about it than that at this minute. But, I bet someone else is very familiar with the answer, and will chime in here for you before long.
HTH.

Welcome back JB
Couldn't help myself when I thought you are referring to Ed Canollies.
Ed s contribution to airguns with his R 9 workings and posts was one thing I always looked forward too.
He unfortunately moved on to a different forum, and I will just leave it at that.
What airguns are you going to be letting go
Mike E
You are exactly right, that was a different Ed. He lived about 25 miles north of me, in a small town called Rougemont. Used to shoot field target matches sitting on a 5-gallon bucket IIRC. Seemed like a very nice guy, and he had done some interesting things with R9 seals as I recall. Thanks for the clarification!
I used to shoot springers all the time when I had a 35-yard range in my wooded back yard in NC, but my current residence up north is in a suburb with small lots and houses close together. I use my R7 on chipmunks occasionally, but only in very controlled lanes where the backstop is certain.

Hi Mike, I think I remember your name from the old Yellow days. I have four Watts-tuned Weihrauch springers, and am planning to sell the HW80K in .22. I never thought I would sell any of them, but sometimes you need to raise some cash to fund other projects. That gun was my raccoon killer when I lived in NC -- absolutely dropped the hammer on them. I also have a CZ 631 tuned by Rich in Michigan that I am considering letting go. It is a tack-driver with wad cutters, and cocks/shoots very smooth.

Sounds like some nice rifles, I have bunch I need to go thru and be there for after I retire to enjoy.
How much for the hw80 carbine is she from Krales
Hello Boomerang (formerly JB in NC),
I too have been away from all forums the past 6 years working long hours and family consuming my time. Starting to come back here. Unlike yourself, I don't see myself moving out of Central VA back to where I came from (Northern Illinois). I do see myself too paring back on my airrifles...
Nice to hear from you again, Chuck! I still have a couple of your secret springs.
@4888blues
Hi Mike, I haven't settled on a price yet, although with the original cost of the gun and the Watts tune, I'd expect it to be in the vicinity of $750 - 800. It also has some of the prettiest figure I've ever seen on a Weihrauch factory stock. I did not buy it from Krales, but from an outfit in Canada. I'll post it with some photos in the next day or so.
@chuckjordan
Hi Chuck, yes on days like today where the snow is blowing and drifting, I do think back to those lovely NC winters. But all the kids and grandkids are here, so that is great compensation. If we had not moved back to the old stomping grounds, the Virginia foothills or the Shenandoah valley were definitely on our radar. Beautiful scenery!

@jiminpgh -Jim, good to read your reply. Wow, long time.
@boomerang - yes I drove to work with my sweater on, and took it off when grocery shopping on the way home ? I'll stop while I'm ahead as I've been reading the Artic blast in Alaska will be coming South soon.
@chuckjordan
So, Chuck, that plane in your avatar is an F what? And, have you ever flown one? Or, maybe your father did? I know that's there for a reason.
There are some good old science-fiction movies from the 50s and 60s that had some some similar types of aircraft in it. I don't know all the model numbers. Remember the one that was one of Clint Eastwood's first movies, where he was shooting his missiles at a giant spider?
My fascination with airplanes has never waned since I was a little kid. No, I never got to fly one. But, I've always liked them anyway. I remember seeing a really good movie about the X-15, based on true events, when I was just a kid. That was a good one.
Sorry, was this about air guns? My mind wandered.
@ekmeister - when my father left the service (1954?) he bought/flew an Aerocoupe (I have photos). The icon is a P-80 Shooting Star (I liked that as a kid). I'd trade lessons for airrifles if someone near me had a CFI (or a C-172).
@chuckjordan
The closest I could come to the spelling of the first one is Ercoupe. Is this close?:

I think I found the P-80 Shooting Star, though (different paint job):

What part of the forum are we in, anyway?? (I think I hear the approaching footsteps of the 'Too-OT' Police). "It's my fault, officer. I started this".
Glad to see this posting, as I, too, am returning from a long hiatus with the intention to pare my collection. What was the answer on the BOI research / availability? By the way, if Chuck Jordan's releasing some air rifles, they're gonna be good ones. His maintenance is very thorough.
