seeing that you are here Hector i have to ask why rear sights for Diana so hard to find

if i am on a UK forum or one here in the states rear sight are not available period and at 50 bucks or so you would think someone would have a handful to sell at all times

and the front globe sight the same thing

if you look back to the globe sight used 30 years ago it will look just like the one used on my 350mag so they are in current production

it doesn't make sense really

i am not in need i have mine

@marflow

Mike;

Reality is that 70% of airguns now wear scopes. Scopes are cheaper to make than iron sights. And 90% of airguns are used once or twice and then stashed away till the next generation in the family finds them at the bottom of a closet.

The other reality is that MOST shooters when confronted with the real cost of replacing the rear or the front sight, will balk and look for a scope. You cannot imagine how many times I have answered an EMail requesting the price for iron sights and then not hearing from the person again, ever.

It costs my time and it is frustrating.

Keep well and shoot straight!

Courtesy of Google Translate:

"Good evening to the forum

I have 5 weapons, 4 carbines and one pistol.

Of the 4 rifles, 2 are high precision and we have always chosen to keep the weapons in perfect working condition.

Polymer sights are not to my taste due to their short lifespan due to fracture of the support base; being the rear sight of the Diana model 26 from 1993, month of March which had 2 rear sights. The one I ordered from Germany is made of steel and is the same as the Diana Model 48 and will be the third.

At the same time I use medium and high precision optical sights, two of which are Japanese made and for a maximum precision range of 500 meters.

The fixing rail for the sights that came equipped from the factory was 10mm wide. As modern sights range from 11 to 25, I had to have rails manufactured on CNC to suit current optical and laser sights.

All the information provided here to find original parts and others with micrometer, (rear and front sight) is of immense value to us who like air rifles.

It was no coincidence that I found information here on the forum to acquire the best and most suitable equipment for my target shooting weapons.

Thank you to all the members as I personally thanked Mr. @hector_j_medina_g .

I will soon post pictures of my weapons with different sights.

Thanks to all the forum members.

EJLC"

@hector_j_medina_g  well it ain't the whole sight, pretty much just the base. Really frustrating. So who has the all metal sight? I have cast body diopters. I tried the Tech-Sight, however that requires a dove tail barrel which my 52 does not have. Trying to get it sorted out. Thanks Fellas

IF you want the OEM part, follow this link:

https://www.waffencenter-gotha.de/shop/ERSATZTEILE-Spare-Parts/LUFTDRUCKWAFFEN/HERSTELLER-MODELL/DIANA/Diana-45/-Mikrometervisier-Kimme-komplett-DIANA-45::2387.html

If you need help purchasing from GOTHA (they are not the easiest of people to deal with, but they are serious and solid merchants), let me know.

For the Tech Sights.- The ones I got use a ramp front that can be installed with one screw on a round piece. Whether this is the barrel itself or a muzzle piece is up to you.

The front sight I bought from them as part of the "Remington 597" set:

image

has a curve that matches the 5/8" / 16 mm's barrels normally used in springers. It uses one screw for attachment and the post is adjustable.

The 52 barrel is, in reality 15.2 mm's OD, so some sort of sleeve would need to be used.

Alternatively, a special muzzle piece, or a special front sight slider would have to be made.

HTH, keep well and shoot straight!

@hector_j_medina_g  Oh that Karen, what a gal. I’ve bought several of there sights. She set me straight on the flat top rail, there is a difference. For some reasonI never considered the front sight which I do have on a rim fire. Will take a closer look. Thanks and Happy Valentines Day

@hector_j_medina_g  Oh was Karen, was für ein Mädchen.

@bf1956

Same post as he made above in "Google-English"

I think he is referring to the WaffenCenter Gotha people. OR he is using the American "a Karen" as a reference to some authoritative and unyielding person.

In any case, the rear sights are mostly uniform across all models, apart from the EMS that uses a FLAT base, but can be mounted in the round top actions (48->54, 430-> 440 and 460 ->470), and some other "editions" that need a plastic filler.

Keep well and shoot straight!

Hmmmmm, I'm not sure I understand what is going on in this thread re Diana sights, BUT, I am considering purchasing a an RWS 34 Classic that does not have either front or rear sights. I'd very much appreciate a recommendation for a set of front and rear sights and the cost.

I'm looking at you Hector 😉

Cheers All!

@alikerimbey

Apologies in advance.- If this sounds like a rant, it is, LOL!

Getting serious however: What's happening, my dear friend is that people underestimate the value/cost of iron sights and spare parts.

And that creates problems for everyone. I cannot tell you how many times I have answered Emails that say something like:

Enquirer: "I have to get iron sights for this rifle, I HAVE to get it back to original...., really, cost is not a problem"

-CCA: Ok so cost is $55 for the rear sight, and $35 for the front sight. Plus Sh & ins (about $10.60 USPS).

E: "Thanks, I'll send you a check"

CCA - OK, I'll prepare your package"

I spend time looking for the specific set of sights this guy needs, then put them in separate little envelopes, put everything in bubble wrap and then all of it into a box or envelope. And I wait:

. 1 week

. 2 weeks

. 3 weeks

.

.

.

I'm still waiting.

And it is not that I am not in tune with the prices of spare parts, if you want to get the F.O. front sights from Italy (only place where I have found them), it costs:

FrontSightPrices

OR, if you want a FIXED tunnel:

FrontSightFixedTunnel

A tunnel for inserts:

FrontSightInsertsTunnel

And if you want to order from Germany the rear sight:

RearSight

To order from either/each them you need to add:

US$35 to the US bank for the issuing of the wire transfer, € 15-00 for the receiving bank

And €40 for the shipping, so if you order from ONE supplier (which means that you cannot have FO in the front):

Euro side:

Front sight.-           € 30.00

Rear Sight.-           € 35.00

Total goods.-            65.00

Shipping.-                40.00

Euro Bank Fee          15.00

Total Euro to send: €120.00

Value in US$          $ 132.00

US Bank fee              35.00

Total to disburse   $167.00

You want FO in the front? then add another € 40 Shipping, another US bank fee ($35) and another Euro Bank fee (€15.00).

And you are almost at the point where purchasing a sightless gun is not a reasonable thing to do, that is, if you value Iron sights.

Believe me this is not only happening in the airgun industry. Just ask John Deere.

The carrying of a full suite of spare parts to service a device (whether it is an Airgun or a GPS operated Combine Harvester), is expensive, and people do not appreciate the effort and the cost.

It is hard to imagine that asking for a price costs money. And, yet, from this end, it costs time, and effort. So, yes, asking for a price may not cost the "asker", but it costs the "answerer".

End of rant.

HTH, keep well and shoot straight!

Thanks for the reply Hector. Didn't mean to touch a nerve and your frustration is entirely understandable. I wasn't necessarily asking for the cheapest options, just recommendation for available options. And yes, I understand the related costs of buying quality items from Europe, it's where I'm from, and I wince almost every time I order something from over there. Excepting maybe from Krale that is.

I hope answering this "asker" didn't cost you too much.

ATB,

AKB

Subject: Two separate orders and two payments made. Diana Mod. 26D and Mod. 48 Cal. 4,5mm

I attach four documents that confirm my responsibility and honesty.

Two files in PDF format, with the bank transfer receipts, made according to your instructions from Banco BCP MILLENNIUM, with the referenced order numbers: 46155 and 45657.

Two files in PDF format with your invoices issued in accordance with my two parts orders for the two Diana brand guns.

I hope to receive the ordered parts as soon as possible.

Best regards.

Hallo Hector

Estou desanimado. Alex fault.

Beste regards

My mistake

I exchanged a lot of emails with him, Alex. I also sent him what you saw.

Honestly, more than a month after, I paid for everything the way they ordered, I received nothing, only confusion and I even understand German language

Thank you my friend

Eduardo;

If you have had answers, then patience is in order.

I'm sure Europe works in a different frequency in general, but in my experience, airgun and airgun related items just take time.

I have to order a few things from GWC, I'll take the opportunity to have a chat with them.

Patience and perseverance, my friend.

Keep well and shoot straight!

Hello Hector

Thank you for the help you gave me.

I assume you gave me a helping hand by talking to Herr Alex from GWC, right?

The news is great, because last Friday I received 4 messages all positive and today I found that they have dispatched the complete order for the two rifles, DIANA 26D and 48. They also gave me a USD 24.00 voucher for future orders.

I think that the delay was due to the enormous volume of business that the firm has. Comparing the difference in numbers by date, I see that there is no shortage of customers.

Here's a big hug and thank you very much.

Let's continue to talk here.

As soon as the parts of the carbines come, I will assemble them here at home. Then it's target shooting to fine-tune the sights.

You, Portuguese, never cease to amaze me.

For the Slowness in Spain, you are much more "Teutonic" than the rest of Europe. LOL!

Glad you got your stuff!

Thanks for keeping us updated and keep on airgunning!

Muito Obrigado.

Hector

Thank you so much for using Norse mythology to compliment me.

Come to think of it, I didn't die in combat, so I'm not going to Valhalla.

Also, with compressed air rifles I don't get away with drones.

I still think that this success had your hand and not God's hand.

As I was a senior executive of two German companies, I always think about DIN standards.

I found your kind words very amusing.

Thank you and shot in the center of the target.
