I have an R9 that I purchased almost 20 years ago... gotta admit that I have not shot it excessively because I have too many other airguns to play with... it's a wonderful springer with a full power kit, and shoots great.
I've been shooting it a lot in my basement airgun range after installing a smaller scope (older Bushnell Trophy 4-12x, a favorite of mine).
Here's what I am curious about...
I noticed after breaking it open, and cocking it, and inserting a pellet, and closing the barrel that when I set the rifle down on my shooting bench (onto a rolled up towel), I feel a slight vibration from the barrel... I can feel the same vibration if I shake the rifle a little before sitting it down on the rest as well.
It does not vibrate after the initial vibration... it's kind of like a "final" locking of the barrel before shooting... everything is tight and there is no wobbling of the barrel, as far as I can tell.
Anyone else ever feel this while shooting a break barrel ?
I'm sure there is a reason, and maybe a remedy... or not ?
I'm wondering what is actually happening, not that I am really concerned... but you know how us airgunners think !
Maybe it is the scope reticle vibrating. Take the scope off then shoot it and see if it still makes that vibration. If it is an old Bushnell it doesn't have a glass etched reticle but a wire reticle.
I suppose it could be the scope... I may try that--removing the scope... but I would think if the reticle was loose the scope would not be as accurate as it currently is.
But the way the very brief vibration feels after cocking the barrel, I think it has to do with the spring behind the barrel detent in the breech block... maybe taking a final setting caused by the shaking of the rifle, as mild as it may be, from setting the rifle down onto the bench rest, or by me physically shaking the rifle before setting the rifle down.
