Is the extra $50.00 worth it? Unboxing look identical for both. The 2-16x44 seems to be about just over an inch or so longer and just under a pound heavier and I purchased this one due to the extended zoom range feature for a pistol carbine (PP700S)due to its compactness its unique UMOA reticle (cool as heck like a SWFA or Sightron reticle) with only the center of the crosshair "+" illuminated and half the price of a Leupold EFR but there is some noticeable fishbowl effect at the lower 2-3x which may get some shooters feeling a bit dizzy and 16x has some color flare or chromatic aberration but backed down between 14x-15x it is decently clear. The 4-16x44 seems clear throughout its entire range and looks to have a regular mildot with some extra dots. It appears as though the 2-16x44 struggles a bit due to the 8 fold power zoom.
Buy it if you have the money to blow, otherwise the 4-16x44 seems to be the better scope out of these two in comparison. IMHO it is not worth the $50.00 premium unless you want the cool UMOA reticle (it IS VERY COOL LOOKING).
I have a few 3-12x44 versions of these scopes and they are great for a couple of my Crosman 1701P and P-Rod pistol carbines especially with the big side focus wheels added to them.

ok which 2 scopes are you talking about

I had both of them held in each of my hands and the 2-16x felt almost a pound heavier and it felt significant enough to mention it.
I took it out today again to look through and I really like the UMOA reticle but the useable zoom range is 3.5x to 14.5x for a clear sight picture. The illumination in the middle "+" can be changed to several different colors by toggeling the buttons but it gets frustrating after turning it off then wanting that same special color again.
