Alright members, what is acceptable accuracy from your PS or TX's? I have a PS in .177cal and mainly shoot at 30yds. I try to always do my best even when recreational target shooting and at 30yds my avg. grouping is .34 inches which is 8 groups of 10 shots each. .34inches equates to .14 c-t-c correct? But i always feel that it could do better.

And another thing...I tried multiple ways of holding her and placing her on shooting sticks at different places such as 4 fingers, 8 fingers away from trigger guard and at the front stock screws.

Ok with that being said, yesterday she shot wonderfully being placed at the stock screws with the 1st joints from the beginning of my fingertips placed on the edge of the pistol grips checkering. Hope that makes sense.

So basically when you wrap your hand around the pistol grip i will use one of 2 places to put my trigger hand. The very tips of fingers on edge of checkering or the 1st joint from fingertips. Well as I was saying, yesterday it shot beautifully with stock screw stick placement and 1st joints of fingers on pistol grip.

This morning, the groups are doubled in size so I tried 8 fingers away from trigger guard and tips on checkering and BOOM!!! Divinity, lol. a group of 10 making a .26" hole which equals .09"ctc. Just tried it (my original hold from up above) again couple of minutes ago and the group shrank to what they were producing yesterday. Any ideas? I am leaning to the shooter warming up and possibly the rifle as well?

Also how do all of you hold your PS's?

Well Mike that is the problem within itself. The problem is to me is it knowing that it is good or not good or is it considered good or not good. So if most people feel that it's producing good results then therefore there's the answer to my problem of knowing or not knowing if the results I am producing are good or not. Thank you for your input though.

I would suggest either getting into Field target or running some ideas by the FT. people,,and getting opinions from that group as they use Tx200 alot.,kelly

Josh,

I cannot find anything wrong with the results you are getting. Very nice groups BTW.

I would focus on the placement (precision) of all of your shots instead and less on the group sizes (accuracy).

Since you are shooting at 30 yards, I would try shooting all 10 shots inside a 1/2" circle with no pellets touching the line to simulate a field target kill zone where a split might not knock down the field target. Or shooting at longer distances like 40, 50 and 55 yards. Another thing to work on is your positional shooting. Practice kneeling and standing positions and try to the same above but with a 1-1/2" circle.

Buy a field target with multiple sized reducers and try knocking it down 10 times in a row.

Very Good shooting,

Leo

Not a ton of shooters can shoot groups that size consistently. I have never shot a springer off of sticks but in my experience those are excellent groups.

At 32 yards I can achieve 5 shot 1/4"-3/8" ctc groups if I try hard to relax, and grip the gun correctly.

As Leo said, get a field target, and also practice positional shooting if you're interested in it. Look and see what kind of clubs are near you and try to fine tune your skills even further by challenging yourself to some field target shooting. Realistically it's very hard to improve on your group size at that distance.

LOL.......those groups are exceptional IMHO!!!

.14 CTC @ 30 yards, must be using EXCEPTIONALLY consistent pellets and shooting form! "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!"
