When I received it it held air just fine. Shot it a few times and put it away. Recently I was planning on shooting it and noticed the air gauged was on empty. So I added air to it and it would not hold air. Air was coming out of a small hole under the barrel in the breech. It is regulated but a after market regulator I believe. Anyone recommend a good tuner for this project that resides near the North Eastern part of the U.S or even somewhere in the in the the US.
Would appreciate and help I can get, Thanks, Bill Day
Hi Bill,
I have had a ProTarget for years. I am confused about what you said about the gauge because I have never seen one that had a gauge of any kind. I have handled other ProTargets and also an FN10. They were and are really nice guns but unfortunately they, for some reason, tend to be leakers and mine is no exception. As a matter of fact mine is out for repair right now but is fixed and ready for pick up. Incidently mine is a 12 fpe version but some of the others I have seen are 20fpe. Joe Korick repaired mine a couple of times but the shipping is a major cost (to Washington State). I think Brad Troyer won the Nationals one year with a ProTarget so you might check with him. A friend of mine now works on mine. There is an airgun retailer in Mass. I would check with them to see if they do repairs.
I like mine so much that I keep getting it fixed. They are beautiful guns to me. Mine is heavy but handles and fits me very well. AA replaced them with the EV-2 and I have one of them. I think the EV might be just a bit more accurate but I still do like shooting the ProTarget.
Good Luck with repair.
Rick Bassett
Thanks Jonny and Rick, I have sent Joe a e-mail. Have heard his name mentioned many times over the years but don't believe I have ever done business with him.
AA had problems with leaking regs. Alan Z can help as well.
