New airgun shooter here. I have had nothing constructive to add, so have been lurking and learned quite a bit. Am testing the waters with Springers. Have recently aquired a HW97 and FWB300S. (I have lusted after a 300s since the first airgun shoot I went to and have missed out on several. Last week I almost stumbled into one and grabbed it.)
I put a Athlon Argos 6-24 with a Christmas tree reticle on it. The problem with the setup is loading the pellets. Given the length of the scope and fact that I like to keep the scope as low as possible pretty much blocks my fat fingers. The answer may be going to a different scope or higher mounts, but thought I would see if anyone as a good idea for a loading tool. I have tried needle nose pliers, pipe cleaners and tweezers. Tweezers are best so far, but not idea. Have thought about a right angle pick with a point of silicone, but before I reinvented the wheel, thought I would ask for input.
Thanks for any help.
Try these. They squeeze to open, so they work like little clamps to hold the pellet until you release it. Curved or angled might work for you.
bbshooter ... Jim, J.D.'S Custom Design makes just what you are looking for. It starts out with a hair bobby pin which he inserts into a handle that he prints on one of those plastic printing machines. The pellet is inserted into the bottom of the bobby pin at the neck of the pellet just above the skirt and you insert the dome of the pellet into the breech and push the skirt into the breech with your thumb. Anyone could make one of these but he really does a good job on his. Try ... jdscustomdesign.com or 423-355-0540. Truly a unique tool and I think he is out of Tenn or Kentucky.
Always glad to help if I can...
Thank J.D.
@bill-day I second on JDs tool.
Thanks to all for the ideas.
I went to JD's site and could not find them. Maybe I am missing something.
Thanks again,
Bill
You would phone and speak to him to place an order. Or, send him a PM on here https://airgunwarriors.com/participant/grandpaonair/
Pictures, I love pictures. Now I understand the idea of the bobby pin tool. That is a trick piece of handywork!! The idea of the cleaning brush salvage would probably be improved with a touch of silicone, but would have to depend on the "bolt" to seat. I looked at the Pellet pens, which would be really slick, but they require feeding pretty much striaght in, which is not going to work.
I may go to my original idea of the tweezers, till I decide if I am going to stick with this scope and mount height, but I really appreciate your suggestions guys.
Thanks again.
Bill
You are welcome.

@bbshooter I totally agree that if you can get that scope high enough loading pellets to the FWB300S would be less of a problem. Even a shorter scope would give you more room to load a pellet. Joe Garland pellet insertion too in my opinion is the best way to deal with scope interference. I own two FWB 300s right now and I have likely owned at least 4 overall. No doubt in my mind that they are the most accurate springer I have ever shot ... and for 25m benchrest they dominate. However, not in FT because of the low FPS of the pellet and the 6 + or - Foot/Lbs of energy. You won't regret buying one if Joe can make you one.
I have a couple of guns like that. I use a small nail bent 90 degrees. Most pellets I shoot are wadcutters and only shoot off a bench. Stand the pellets on their head, stick the nail into the shirt, push hard, stick it in the breach. Softer lead helps. Takes a little practice. You'll drop some till you get use to it. It's routine now.
@tim-ward
Tim,
Do you not get any deforming of the inside of the pellet by doing this that might effect accuracy??
@tim-ward Interesting... do you bend the nail near the point or the head ?
I would think near the head would work best, plus you can alter the shape of the head, or add coating of plastic-dip or silicone rubber.

Nail's a little over 2 inches long, bend it about 1/2 inch from point. Don't make it complicated. Pair of pliars, bend the nail 90 degrees, stick it in the pellet, stick pellet in gun. Nails 'bout the size of an allen wrench comes with a scope.
