Hey guys. I just discovered the PatchWorm Gun Cleaning Kit. This pull through system is safe for airguns, but more importantly: It cleans your barrel BETTER than any other system on the market. It cleans your barrel better, and there is no way you can damage the crown of your barrel with this kit. The Pocket Field Kit comes with head sizes for every caliber from .20, .22, .25, .30, .357, .45, .50, & 12 guage. I also show the Air Gun Cleaning Kit from PatchWorm, which will clean your .177 air rifles and pistols. There are some sexy guns in this video, so it should be an entertaining 9 minutes, even if you already know about the PatchWorm system.

I did not mention in the video: The heads of this pull through system rotate with your barrel's rifling as they go down the barrel. The head sizes and material they are made of, cause the felt patches to reach deep into your rifling and pull out tons of junk! Must have item… and it's under $10!!!! Thanks for watching! -Nate

This system is not foolproof.  If you pull out the patchworm at an angle, rubbing the crown, you can damage the barrel.  I remember Randy Bimrose telling us in airgunsmithing class that he has seen this numerous times in his career.

I have a patchworm kit that came in a trade about 20 years ago.  It's still in the ziplock.

I've been using a dewey coated .177 rod for 25 years.  Remember it was purchased from Graf and sons.  Surprised amazon didn't put them out of business:

I use the loop, not the jag:

https://www.pyramydair.com/product/loop-for-177-to-20-caliber?a=1072

Start by using beeman cleaner/degreaser.  It's green in color.  One bottle apparently lasts a lifetime.

I suppose you can substitute Ballistol as the cleaner in today's world.

Keep pulling until the patches are clean.

Than run a patch two or three times with MP-5 oil:

If you want to get the barrel squeaky clean, use flitz polish.  Magically, your barrel will be dirty again for a few passes:

Never had an issue with this process.

I use 100 lbs. fishing line with a wooden handle and the proper cloth patches. Never had an issue in over 30 some years. If anyone needs some of the fishing line let me know, I’ve got 3 lifetimes worth ?

I have been using Jack Lewis Crown Saver, for 20 30 years. Plain and simple pull through, will not touch crown.

Mac1 Airguns has it.

JL Crown Saver. I used that with the patch seal on my Cricket 2 Tactical. They worked well together. I needed my JL Crown Saver to finish it off. I was careful to pull my Patchworm straight out the barrel, not at an angle, which can carve a groove into the crown.

My JL ain't going nowhere!

Otis also makes a very nice pull through kit for airguns. It is a plastic coated wire that has a loop for patches and a handle for pulling through. I prefer a pull through for small calibers like .177, .20 and .22. Especially when you can't easily get a rod in the breech end.
