Just a quick pic of the unassembled, cerakoted P1. Got everything back from cerakoter about a month ago. "Elite Black & Dark Gold". He did all the roll pin ends and a few other parts. I bought new springs throughout from Chambers but be warned that not all P1's are apparently the same when it comes to pins. Lucky for me, mine were all in good shape. I'll order an ARH mainspring in spite of already buying one from PA. I think I feel a vacation coming in the next couple of months and perhaps finally finish this. Not sure how it will look once complete (and perform) but it is what it is.

How much did those grips cost?

Grtwht,

Google Altamont grips. These are from the Colt 1911 group. I paid around mid $50ish. Looks like they are now $61.

Their stuff isn’t made until ordered but only took about 3 weeks. They positively fit like a glove. Great value IMO

I had suggested crimson trace grips, but given the motif, your choice fits much better.

You're making me want to dig mine out and shoot it a little.

I don't normally go for finger-groove grips but on the P1 they are a huge aid to cocking. Yanking on that over-lever/barrel assembly to cock, it wants to pry the grip out of your hand. The finger grooves ensure that you don't need an absolute death-grip on it. Shooting sessions can be longer and more pleasant. The P1 is an excellent candidate for Cerakote. Those old finishes can start to look a bit tired and faded. I love this thread already. Can't wait to see the outcome.

There is one thing worth noting. While the P1 is designed to take 1911 grips, it's mostly just the simple, original style grips. When you start adding wrap-arounds, finger grooves, thumb shelves and the like; those can get all up into the P1 safety. I had to return two sets of custom, target-style grips as they either wouldn't fit the P1 at all or wouldn't allow the safety levers to move. I wound up with some checkered Hogue's with finger grooves. They aren't quite as nice as the OP but they work well.
