When I started airgunning as an adult 20 or so years ago, I was a TX200 snob... then after a 20 year or so break from airguns I started (just recently) with an older R7 (a second one... long story). Superb, how could I have been so blind to the quality of this German mfgers offerings.

After getting a second older R7 that is a sweet shooter I decided to test the HW waters. The first HW50S I recieved must have been flawed. I am liking one now.

Back 20 or so years ago, it was a lot of magnification so I could hit the "dots", and lots of stress over flyers and misses. Now, with a good break barrel, plinking is more fun than it ever was with zero stress. And, using open sights is so much more rewarding.

In fact I like the 50S so much that I saved up and have a HW35E on the way. I hope it is as accurate as the 50.

Next inline will be a HW30 in .22... I'm sick I tell you...

That said, isn't it ashame that Air Arms doesn't make a walnut stocked R7 equivalent?  ?

It's a shame Weihrauch doesn't offer a walnut R7, HW30, or HW50. HW95? Nope. It's also a shame Air Arms doesn't offer any spring rifle under 9 lbs.

Only 6 1/2 for me but I already own 4. HW95 .22 was first to see what the hype was, $299.99 5 years ago when i got it from AoA. Only thing it's ever had done was the custom made Ocean Grey laminate stock from Craftsman Vit that was the first he ever made in the color.

2nd was a gently used Beeman R9 .20 before they went back to putting open sights on them again (no biggie, I scope my rifles, lousy eyes...lol) and bought from a fellow member on another forum.

3rd was a Huntington Beach Beeman R7 .20 won in an Ebay auction the girlfriend helped pay for as an anniversary present.

4th and just arrived is a year and a half old Beeman R7 .177 also bought gently used from a fellow member on another forum and so said girlfriend can learn to shoot with me. Open sights weren't in the way but removed, safely stored away and I dug out the Apex muzzle weight I got from ARH a year and a half or so ago to put on the barrel to protect the front sight dovetails.

They all wear Hawke Airmax scopes in 3-9 or 4-12 x40.
