Hello
I recently acquired a couple air rifles in a trade deal and I have no experience whatsoever with them. I will probably keep one to play but would like a good estimate of the value of each. They are both in near 100% condition. Below are some pictures. The Walther is the second model down on the pamphlet. Thanks for any help.
The guns are a Walther model LG 55 target rifle, with highly desirable Tyrolean walnut stock; and a Feinwerkbau Sport, model 124 with Deluxe beech stock.
I am not an expert in FWB sporters, but the LG 55 is IMHO worth at least $450 in that lovely condition with the original manual. The only flaw I see is a slight deformation of the "ears" on the buttpad, caused by standing the gun up for a long period.
Both guns will likely need a new piston seal soon, they are made of synthetic materials that deteriorate over time.
Wow!!! That Walther is absolutely stunning! Don't know the details of your trade but you came out of it with a couple of very nice springers. Congrats!
You said you were thinking about keeping one and selling the other on. My advice, for what little it's worth, is by all means keep the Walther. You can always find another FWB 124 if you should decide you want one later on. Maybe not in that kind of condition, but they pop up now & again. The Tyro Walther on the other hand, those rarely come up for sale and when they do they disappear quickly. So the chances of replacing it on down the road would be quite slim. Especially one in that condition. If those were mine I think I'd have to keep them both!
Congrats again.
The Tyrolean Walther model LG 55 target rifle is the most desirable of the two guns but the FWB 124D is also a nice collectable gun. The Walther is a 10 meter gun shooting at about 550 FPS that will group 10 shots in a 1/4" group or smaller. The FWB 124D is a sporting or hunting gun with about 800 FPS. It's accuracy will be just a little less than the Walther but will give you more range. If you plan to shoot squirrel and rabbit, the FWB would be the one to keep. If you want to shoot sparrows, keep the Walther. It will be fairly easy to replace the piston and breech seals on both rifles.
I hope one of these guns hooks you on airguns.
