I must be behind the times, but looks like one of my favorite springer scopes was discontinued. I have a few of the VXii 3x9 efr's, and have never let me down. Looks like Leupold replaced them with a freedom unit, but has a more tactical look to it. The old efr's on the auction sights are pushing $500-600......ha.......amazing,

Yep. I've got several of the old ones and one new-style one. So far, the glass on the Freedom EFR seems as good as the old VX-II and VX-2 series 3-9 EFR scopes, although most of my shooting is indoors up to 15 yards and I haven't had a chance to get outside and really put the new one to the test. But the tactical look isn't my thing and the scope doesn't "feel" as high-end as the older variants. And yes, a mint VX-2 EFR will often list for as much as $600, although they generally for $500 or less. Sure wish I had bought a couple more when they were $350 new. It still is my favorite all-around springer scope. Super light, good looking, great glass, Leupold warranty.
The Leupold VX-2 EFR 3-9x was the first scope that I got some 20+ years ago for my Beeman Webley Eclipse air rifle... my wife bought it for me Christmas.
It was the number one recommended springer air rifle scope back then, on the few airgun forums that existed back then.
I have moved that scope around to several different air rifles over the years.
I did have an issue with it once with the adjustable objective... contacted Leupold, sent it back, and it was quickly fixed & returned--great service !
Love that scope !
I have wondered about the newer EFR scopes as well.
